On May 3rd Representative Daryl Metcalfe (R-Cranberry Township) introduced HB 1434 — the PA Marriage Protection Amendment (MPA). Since that time it has sat in the House State Government Committee of which Representative Metcalfe is the chair. He has not moved the bill forward simply because he has no guarantee that the Majority Floor Leader Mike Turzai will allow the bill to come up for a vote when it passes out of the State Government Committee.

A case has been filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania to decide who will receive the proceeds from a retirement plan which involves the surviving partner in a same-sex Canadian “marriage” and the deceased parents. The surviving partner, Ms. Tobits, has notified the Attorney General’s office that she will raise the question of the constitutionality of Pennsylvania’s 1996 Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).

Tonight Jenkintown Borough in Montgomery County will be deciding whether to advertise an ordinance which would create a local human relations commission and include the words “sexual orientation and gender identity or expression.” Homosexual activists have been very busy in southeastern PA since last year pushing the victim card and claiming they are losing their jobs and being thrown out of their homes simply because they are homosexual — although they have yet to produce any current valid examples. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide traditional values group , has contacted each member of the Council Board and asked them some specific questions.

Jenkintown is the next target. Why would this small suburban town covering less than a square mile in area with a population of approximately 4,500 be targeted? It’s simply a potential feather in the cap of those trying to put pressure on the state legislature to change the PA Human Relations Act to include “sexual orientation and gender identity or expression” thus giving homosexuals, bisexuals and transgenders special rights simply because of the sexual activity in which they engage or who they think they are.

At tonight’s school board meeting there will be further discussion on the formation of a Gay Straight Alliance — now renamed Safe Schools Club. The idea of a Safes Schools Club promoting homosexuality is ludicrous and the CDC attests to the physical dangers associated with engaging in homosexual sex.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said he will schedule a vote to proceed to a $35 billion jobs bill tomorrow. The $35 billion measure would direct federal funds to states to prevent layoffs of teachers, police officers and firefighters. Most of the funding, $30 billion, would go to teachers. First responders would get $5 billion.

Further proof that lesbians should not be permitted to adopt is found in a story out of California where two “mommies” believe “their son” is really a girl and have begun a controversial hormone treatment to delay puberty. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide child advocacy group, is astounded that the authorities have not been called in to investigate.
