August 30, 2012 // 1 CommentFifteen states have filed an amicus brief in support of the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), urging the United States Supreme Court to review a lower court decision striking down DOMA. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide advocate for natural marriage, contacted the PA Attorney General’s office expressing concern that Pennsylvania was not on the 15-state brief.

This is outrageous, especially in light of the shooting at the Family Research Center last Wednesday. FRC President Tony Perkins stated the shooter “was given a license to do that by a group such as the Southern Poverty Law Center who labeled us a hate group because we defend the family and stand for traditional orthodox Christianity.”

August 17, 2012 // 2 CommentsThis past Monday the United Way of the Capital Region met with representatives from the New Birth of Freedom Council, which oversees Boy Scouts in Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry, York and Adams counties and serves 11,400 Scouts. If the United Way decides against the Boy Scouts it will mean a loss of $85,000 annually. Why does the United Way of the Capital Region feel compelled to question the funding of the New Birth of Freedom Council? Because of their ban on homosexual leaders and members and the national BSA’s reaffirmation of that ban on July 17th has brought the issue to the forefront. The United Way of the Capital Region has added “sexual orientation” to their policies and they no longer fund organizations which “discriminate” against homosexuals.

August 16, 2012 // 2 CommentsUnited Way of the Capital Region is meeting to determine if the Boy Scouts are still “eligible” for funding because of the Scouts ban on allowing homosexuals to serve as leaders or members. The discussion involves New Birth of Freedom Council, which oversees Boy Scouts in Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry, York and Adams counties which serves 11,400 Scouts. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA) has contacted the United Way asking that they place the welfare of 11,400 boys ahead of politics.
Somerset County Action Alert: Targeted by Homosexuals
August 15, 2012 // 0 CommentsOn July 31st, homosexual activist John DeBartola asked the Somerset County Commissioners to consider extending domestic partner benefits to the same-sex partners of county employees, passing an “anti-discrimination” ordinance — in reality a homosexual special rights ordinance — and creating a human relations commission to enforce the ordinance. DeBartola is a Johnstown resident and the president of the Keystone Alliance/Gaylife Newsletter.

The American Family Association of Pennsylvania ( AFA of PA) agrees with the President on the need to keep kids safe, but has contacted the President for a further explanation on the federal government’s hiring practices in light of the recent hiring of former Penn State President Graham Spanier, who was also implicated in the Freeh Report for turning a blind eye to the accusations against former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.
