Christmas — Where is it safe to shop?

Details

Christmas is only two weeks away! Here are a few cautions about some companies when only looking at the homosexual issue:

Abercrombie & Fitch — has a 100 rating from the homosexual group Human Rights Campaign (HRC), which is “working for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equal rights.”

Amazon.com — has a 90 rating from HRC

Barnes and Nobles — has a 100 rating from HRC

Best Buy — has a 100 rating from HRC

Bon Ton — has a 90 rating from HRC

Burger King — in August announced its “Proud Whopper”

Costco — has a 90 rating from HRC

JC Penney — HRC gives a 95 rating

Kohls — a cosponsor of the program “How to Get Away with Murder” on ABC. The show is a creation of Shonda Rhimes’ protégé Pete Norwalk, an open homosexual who admits he wants to use Murder to promote and normalize gay sex on network television. “I knew I wanted to push the envelope, especially with the gay sex,” Norwalk told E!.

Macys (Bloomingdale’s) — has become very involved in co-sponsoring homosexual events, most recently the Columbus Gay Pride Parade where Macys’ red star balloon flew high over their employee group members’ banner which read “Pride and Joy.”  (They are also an HRC National Corporate Partner)

Sears — has a 100 rating from HRC (note: Sears owns Kmart)

Starbucks — is an outspoken supporter of same-sex “marriage” and in June raised the gay pride flag over its headquarters in Seattle.

Target — has a 100 rating from HRC

Wal-Mart — has a 90 rating from HRC

To obtain a 100 from HRC the companies must have the following in their policies: provide equal benefits for same-sex partners and spouses as to “different-sex spouses”; benefits (including health insurance coverage) for transgender employees and dependents; demonstrate firm-wide competency on LGBT issues and public commitment to the LGBT community; sexual orientation and gender identity or expression in its equal employment opportunity policy; must have competency training, resources or accountability measures; businesses must demonstrate ongoing LGBT-specific engagement that extends across the firm. Businesses lose 25 points if they are involved in any “known activity that would undermine LGBT equality.”

HRC has also rated these companies and you may consider giving them some of your business this Christmas. Of course, local businesses always appreciate your patronage and tend to be more “Christmas-friendly” and family-friendly:

Bass Pro — has a 15 rating from HRC
