Bill Banning Late Term Abortions Advances Out of Committee

Details

Senator Michelle Brooks has reintroduced the Pain Capable Dismemberment Abortion Ban that was just shy one Senate floor vote last session before it reached the governor’s desk.  In reality, the Senate leadership refused to bring it to the floor for that vote because Governor Wolf had threatened to veto it!  Wolf has again threatened to veto this bill, so we’ll see if Senate leadership has gained a spine within the last couple of months!!

In the meantime,  the new bill, SB 3 which will reduce from 24 to 20 weeks the gestational age for legal abortions in PA and bans dismemberment abortions, was voted out of the Judiciary Committee yesterday.   Click here for the roll call vote.  Note all five Democrats on the committee voted ‘nay.’
