Pro-life Vote in Congress Expected Today

Details

A vote is expected today on HR 36 — the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which seeks to ban abortions after 20 weeks – five months– of pregnancy. This is the bill that was suddenly pulled the day of the March for Life back in January.

According to the Susan B. Anthony List, several improvements to the bill have been made.   They include:

1.) Protections for babies born alive — a second physician must be present at an abortion to provide care for any baby born alive

2.) Informed consent — relevant information must be provided any woman considering late-term abortion

3.) Civil right of action — a woman or the parents of a minor daughter may sue the abortion provider if they fail to comply with the law
