Issues  (check corresponding number in ‘Details’ and ‘Action’ Sections)

1.)     Homosexual Activist Groups Attack Chick-Fil-A

2.)    Senator Toomey and Rick Santorum to Attend CPAC

Details

1.)     In recent week homosexual activist groups have been relentless in their attacks on Chick-Fil-A, the Christian family-owned fast food restaurant.  Why the attacks?  Because local Chick-Fil-A restaurants occasionally provide chicken sandwiches for groups that have marriage seminars, etc. A-N-D horror of horrors, they’ve been known to help larger pro-family groups by providing food for their conferences!!  But, according to homosexual activists, the worst thing is the conferees being fed by Chick-fil-A are attending seminars which only teach about Biblical marriage and are not ‘inclusive.’

For a few days even Indiana University, South Bend banned Chick-Fil-A from  providing its once-a-week services at the school’s dining facilities after a petition from the Campus Ally Network, the school’s homosexual group.  Today’s Washington Times reports the restaurant will be allowed to return to campus.

The January 29th New York Times states, “With its near-national reach and its transparent conservative Christian underpinnings, Chick-fil-A is a trailblazer of sorts, said Lake Lambert, the author of “Spirituality, Inc.” and dean of the college of liberal arts at Mercer University, where he teaches Christianity. “They’re going in a direction we haven’t seen in faith-based businesses before, and that is to a much broader marketing of themselves and their products,” he said. “This is possibly the next phase of evangelical Christianity’s muscle flexing.”

2.)      Since the 1970’s conservatives have been attending the Conservative Political Action Conference or CPAC in Washington, DC.  Unfortunately, the past couple years CPAC has permitted the homosexual group GOProud to be a part of their gathering.  This year they were even part of the planning process.  Most pro-family groups have decided not to attend the event because of GoProud’s homosexual activism.  Some invited speakers such as South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint has said he will not address the group.  GoProud pushed for the repeal of the law banning homosexuals from military service and want the federal Defense of Marriage Act repealed.  GoProud MAY be fiscally conservative, but their Chairman Chris Barron describes defending traditional marriage and the right to life as those “crazy social issues” and does not believe they are necessary to be considered conservative.  Ronald Reagan described conservatism as a three-legged stool – strong foreign-policy, strong economy, and social conservatism.  Remove one leg and the stool collapses.

An article from today’s National Review gives more information.

Unfortunately, Senator Pat Toomey and Rick Santorum both plan on addressing the CPAC gathering.  So, the question is:  “Are those ‘crazy social issues, important?”

Action Steps

1.) Contact Chick-Fil-A and thank them for their strong Biblical stands.   Chick-Fil-A has a Facebook page, you can go on and ‘like’ them and leave a positive comment.

2.) If you believe social issues are important and that being conservative means more than the economy, please contact Senator Toomey by clicking here.   Click here to email him.   Contact Rick Santorum through the organization he chairs, America’s Foundation PAC at 610.825.7033.
