Blog Post —  Bigoted, Hateful Attacks Leveled at Indiana Downtown-Indianapolis-2-listAgain Expose their Real Intentions

On March 26th, Governor Mike Pence of Indiana followed the lead of nineteen other governors and President Bill Clinton in signing a Religious Freedom Restoration Act or RFRA into law. The law, which would go into effect in July, “Prohibits a governmental entity from substantially burdening a person’s exercise of religion.”  It establishes a judicial review standard state courts must follow when they consider cases where government action is alleged to substantially burden an individual’s exercise of religion. This general standard of favoring religious freedom can be overcome if the governmental entity has a “compelling interest” in the matter and uses the least restrictive means of furthering that “compelling interest.” Typical “compelling interests” of government include prohibiting discrimination against individuals.

Almost immediately the attacks by homosexual activists and their allies in the media, Hollywood, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the corporate world began and reached a fever pitch by Monday the 30th. Even the “Disciples of Christ,” which has already lost about 70 percent of their membership, threatened to pull out its 2017 convention from Indianapolis. All claiming that this bill legalized discrimination against gays — even though the words sexual orientation, discriminate, gay, lesbian or homosexual appears nowhere in the bill. But, hey, the desire for truth went out the window a long time ago in this culture war!

It’s a sad day when corporate America sides with sexual anarchists! Gen Con, the state’s largest convention threatened to pull out its convention — beginning in 2020. Salesforce CEO announced his company was “canceling all programs that require our customers/employees to travel to Indiana to face discrimination.” (Let’s just ignore the fact Salesforce does a LOT of business with China, a country known for its human rights violations!) Yelp announced it would boycott Indiana and the Governors of Washington, Connecticut and New York announced they would not allow any state money to be used for state-related business trips to Indiana. Cummins Engine complained the law was “bad for business.” Eskenazi Health argued the law could lead to the denial of health services. Eli Lilly and the Indiana Chamber of Commerce announced opposition to the bill. Angie’s List, the online service that provides consumer reviews of service professionals, has joined the anti-Christian bigotry brigade. The NCAA threatened to pull future basketball tournaments out of Indiana. All their assertions are based upon lies, but as mentioned earlier who seeks for truth anymore.

Upon signing the federal RFRA in 1993, President Clinton said, “(O)ne of the reasons (the Founders) worked so hard to get the First Amendment into the Bill of Rights at the head of the class is that they well understood what could happen to this country, how both religion and Government could be perverted if there were not some space created and some protection provided. They knew that religion helps to give our people the character without which a democracy cannot survive. They knew that there needed to be a space of freedom between Government and people of faith that otherwise Government might usurp.”

It was Jefferson who declared, “No provision in our Constitution ought to be dearer to man than that which protects the rights of conscience against the enterprises of the civil authority.”

In explaining fascism Italian dictator Benito Mussolini stated: “The Fascist conception of the state is all-embracing; outside of it, no human or spiritual values can exist…the Fascist State…interprets, develops, and potentates the whole life of a people.”

Liberal comedian Bill Maher has dubbed them the “gay mafia” and the qualities they least emulate are open-mindedness and tolerance. As we see homosexual activists and their allies descend upon Indianapolis with their utter hatred, vitriol, and despise for those who seek to protect the rights of conscience of Indiana citizens, they have proven they are homo-fascists. Their intentions are all too clear: this is a one way street and there will be no discussion permitted that does not fall into their line of thinking — no values, no thoughts can exist without their approval.

Dr. Paul Kengor notes, “I totally understand that gay people want freedom and don’t want to be discriminated against, but neither do religious believers. And we do have this thing in America called freedom of religion. It’s the first right in the Bill of Rights. In a civil society of real freedom and real tolerance, both sides need to find a way to tolerate one another. Tolerance doesn’t mean tolerating only what you agree with. That’s not tolerance.”
