Blog Post – The Boy Scouts’ Problem with Sexual AssaultBoy Scout Oath

They maintain the perversion files,  yet last month they voted to allow open homosexuals to serve as Scout leaders.   Former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, president of the Boy Scouts and their Executive Committee are ignoring the history of molestation within their own organization. The recent lawsuits against the Boy Scouts by boys who allegedly had been molested by Scout leaders should be a warning.   The most recent case in Minnesota now includes the production of child pornography during the alleged sexual molestation by the former Scout leader.

It appears BSA leaders are more concerned with appeasing homosexual activists than they are with protecting young boys.

Either the Boy Scouts need to stop giving in to the demands of homosexual activists and corporations that threaten BSA funding over the homosexual issue or parents need to pull them out and get them involved with an organization that is truly concerned with their safety and well-being. The AFA of Pa recommends Trail Life USA.

Historic information about General Robert Baden Powell, founder of the Boy Scouts:

The Boy Scouts, being originally founded on Christian values, grew into the largest voluntary youth movement in the world, with membership over 25 million.

In a 1917 pamphlet on Scouting, Baden-Powell wrote an introduction, Scouting & Christianity, stating:

“Scouting is nothing less than applied Christianity.”

Robert Baden-Powell wrote in Scouting for Boys, 1908:

“We aim for the practice of Christianity in their everyday life and dealings, and not merely the profession of its theology on Sundays…
Baden-Powell wrote in Scouting for Boys, 1908:

“No man is much good unless he believes in God and obeys His laws… First: Love and serve God. Second: Love and serve your neighbor.”

Baden-Powell wrote in Aids to Scoutmastership, 1919:

“Development of outlook naturally begins with a respect for God… Reverence to God and reverence for one’s neighbor and reverence for oneself as a servant of God.”
The Scout Handbook, 5th edition (1948), in the section ‘Duty to God’, a scout was admonished to be ‘faithful to God’s Commandments’:

“You worship God regularly with your family in your church or synagogue. You try to follow the religious teachings that you have been taught, and you are faithful in your church school duties, and help in church activities. Above all you are faithful to Almighty God’s Commandments.

Sir Robert Baden-Powell warned not to let the Boy Scout organization grew to have a large salaried staff, as he stated in his Farewell Note:

“Don’t let it become a salaried organization: keep it a voluntary movement of patriotic service.”

If only they had heeded his warning!
