Parental Rights Amendment on the Move!

Details

As you may recall there’s been an ongoing effort to get a Parental Rights Amendment to the US Constitution passed in order to protect parental rights from UN intrusion. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child poses many problems and if that treaty is ratified by the US Senate, all parental rights laws in the US will be null and void!

Click here to read the language of the proposed constitutional amendment.

If you have additional questions about the Parental Rights Amendment, click here.

The Parental Rights Amendment has been introduced in both the US Senate and the US House. Only South Carolina’s two senators have signed on as co-sponsors to the Senate version! Additionally, in the US House not one Pennsylvania Congressman has signed on as a co-sponsor!

FYI: Steps have also been taken on the state level to encourage the US Senate not to ratify the treaty. Here in Pennsylvania HR 97 was introduced by Rep. Will Tallman on Feb. 25, 2011, and submitted to the House Children and Youth Committee March 1, 2011. It remains in that committee over a year later! This is “A Resolution memorializing the Congress of the United States to pass the Parental Rights Amendment and submit it to the states for ratification.”

HR 501 was introduced by Rep. Tallman and 7 cosponsors on Nov. 15, 2011. This is “A Resolution memorializing the Senate of the United States to reject the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.” It was referred to the same committee as HR 97 and also remains there.

Action Steps

1.) Contact Senator Pat Toomey and Senator Bob Casey, Jr. and ask them to contact Senator Jim DeMint in order to become an original co-sponsor of the bill. There is currently no bill number, simply tell their staff to “Ask the Senator to contact Senator DeMint to become a co-sponsor of the Parental Rights Amendment.” Click here for contact information.

2.) Contact your US Congressman and ask that he or she become a co-sponsor of the House version of the amendment. Again there is no bill number, tell your Congressman’s staff to “Ask the Congressman to contact Representative Trent Franks to become a co-sponsor of the Parental Rights Amendment.” Click here for contact info.

Details

1.) Yesterday 61% of North Carolina voters said ‘yes’ on Amendment One which not only defined marriage as only between one man and one woman, but also banned civil unions. As you will see in our news release ,banning civil unions is also critical in protecting natural marriage. However, our Republican majority in Harrisburg still does not get it and are refusing to do the right thing and allow We the People to vote on a Marriage Protection Amendment!

2.) Just how legitimate is the “anti-bullying” that is being pushed by homosexual activists? Check out my interview of Peter LaBarbera with Americans for Truth About Homosexuality. On April 29th Peter was kicked out of a presentation by “anti-bullying” advocate Dan Savage at Elmhurst College near Chicago. What did Peter do wrong? He asked Savage some tough questions about why he created the website (Google bomb) which redefined the name “Santorum” to mean a vile by-product of anal sex. Savage also attacked the Pope during his presentation. Click here to listen to his attacks on the Pope (be forewarned of the vulgar content!). Click here to listen to my interview with Peter.

Campbell’s and Wells Fargo Sponsor Philadelphia Homosexual Event

Details

This evening is the VIP Kickoff of Equality Forum, a “week-long” homosexual event in Philadelphia which will hold panel discussions on adoption by homosexuals, same-sex “marriage,” men who think they are women using the women’s restroom, the re-interpretation of Scripture when it comes to homosexuality, normalizing homosexuality in our nation’s schools and in the military. To see their program schedule for Monday through Friday click here and for Saturday’s and Sunday’s schedule click here.

Their website says, “The weeklong Annual Equality Forum has an international focus, top-tier panel discussions, parties, an annual art exhibit, International Equality Dinner, Sunday OUT! and more. There is no registration fee and all substantive programs are free.”

Needless to say this will costs lots of money. Click here for the listed donors and sponsors — note this list is only through January 11, 2012, In the past the Commonwealth of PA has been a sponsor, my assumption is that it is not or it would be posted front and center.

The only real surprise the list holds is Campbell’s Soup Company. Wells Fargo has become more ‘gay-friendly’ in recent years willing to spend their profits on sponsoring ‘gay-pride’ activities.

Action Steps

1.) Contact Campbell’s Soup via their website here.

Here’s a sample letter you can copy and paste into the form or compose your own:

I am appalled that Campbell’s Soup Company has stooped to sponsoring homosexual events! Did you know that you are listed as a sponsor of Philadelphia’s Equality Forum? http://www.equalityforum.com/2012/donors.cfm

During this event they will be promoting same-sex ‘marriage,’ telling homosexuals how they can adopt innocent young children, trashing what the Bible really says about homosexuality and discussing ways to get the ‘gay is okay’ message into schools.

Until you stop the promotion of homosexuality, I can no longer buy your products.

I will also inform my family, friends and neighbors of your attacks on the family and children.

2.) Does your local school save Campbell’s Soup labels for the Labels for Education program? If so, would they be interested in knowing that Campbell’s Soup is involved in promoting same-sex ‘marriage,’ homosexual adoption and forcing schools to allow young men who think they are young women to use the women’s restroom? Why not give them a call.

April 23, 2012

Issue

Don’t Forget to Vote Tomorrow!

Details

Tomorrow’s weather prediction for Pennsylvania doesn’t look real good. Snow the last week of April!! But the weather does not change the fact that it is Primary Election Day and we as citizens must make every effort to fulfill our duty to vote.

I think back to those brave men who weathered many hardships to fight for our independence from Great Britain during that harsh winter in Valley Forge and the other harsh winters during the eight year conflict from 1775 to 1783 when victory over Great Britain was finally won. Many have suffered hardship and even given their lives since then. Can we allow a little cold and snow to keep us away from the polls tomorrow? Many times you hear “This election is the most important in our nation’s history,” but I truly believe this one and the one in November truly are. But tomorrow’s election will determine what November’s ballot looks like!

Will you join me in voting tomorrow and maybe even giving a couple hours to work the polls for the candidate of your choice?

You can go to your county website and a sample ballot for tomorrow should be posted. If you have questions call your county election office.

Additionally, AFA national has partnered with the Heritage Alliance this year to produce a voter guide for each state. Go to www.ivoterguide.com and enter your address to see the scores the candidates received. Extensive research was done on each candidate by a panel of Pennsylvania residents under the guidance of the Heritage Alliance.

Action Steps

1.) Pray for the election process — that it will proceed in an honorable way, that any voter fraud will be caught and dealt with immediately. Pray for the voters that they will take the time to become educated on the stands taken by the various candidates — not just follow “Party Leadership,” but do their own independent research.

2.) Check out the positions of the candidates on issues that are important to you. Go to www.ivoterguide.com

3.) Get out and vote tomorrow! Help others by offering to drive an elderly neighbor or family member to the polls and/or by pointing them to the www.ivoterguide.com website so they can vote in an informed manner.

Issue

“Gay” Day of Silence is This Friday! Is Your Child’s School Participating?

Details

This Friday, April 20th, is the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network (GLSEN) Day of Silence in schools across the nation and many in Pennsylvania will participate also. This is a day when students and, in some cases, teachers remain silent throughout the day to show support for ‘homosexual rights’ claiming that those who identify as ‘gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender’ have been silenced. However, the ACLU even recognizes that the silence cannot be legally maintained during instructional time.

This mostly takes place in high schools, but some middle schools now participate. Is you child’s school going to observe this day? GLSEN used to proudly list all the participating schools, but since the AFA of PA and others have worked to expose the dangers of promoting homosexuality in schools, the list is now top secret information! They don’t want parents and taxpayers to find out how a taxpayer funded school day is being used to normalize the homosexual lifestyle.

Click here for a great article by Laurie Higgins with the Illinois Family Institute. This gives more details and reasons why this is so dangerous and actions you can take.

ACTION STEPS:

1.) Contact your child’s high or middle school and ask if they will permit students and/or teachers to remain silent during instructional time during the Day of Silence – April 20th.

2.) If your school acknowledges that they will permit this silence during instructional time, please take part in the Day of Silence Walkout and keep your child home on Friday! Click here for more information and a sample letter to give to the school.

3.) This year we want to do follow-up and would like YOUR story if you keep your child home on the “Gay Day of Silence.” Here’s what we are asking for:

If you are keeping your child home from school on the Day of Silence, could you drop us a short note about your situation? Here are some of the kinds of things we’re interesting in hearing:

1. Whom did you contact at your school prior to the Day of Silence?

2. What did this person or persons tell you about how the administration’s expectations for teachers and students?

3. Did the administration contact parents prior to the Day of Silence to tell them that it was taking place, what it was, what organization promotes it, and about the administration’s expectations for student behavior?

If you would like to share your story please email us at info@afaofpa.org and we will forward your story to Linda Harvey at Mission America. With your permission, we will include it in our follow up report.

April 9, 2012

Issues

1.) US Senate Voter Guide Available

2.) Absentee Ballot Information

Details

On March 10th we contacted, via registered mail, each of the five Republican US Senate candidates and the two Democrat US Senate candidates. We received confirmation that they received our voter guide questions, but unfortunately only two actually responded to the questions! You can reach your own conclusions as to why candidates did not want to address the issues they will be facing in Washington, DC if they become our next US Senator.

Check out the complete answers from Sam Rohrer as well as his response to “In 75 words or less, please tell the voters why they should vote for you – why are you the best candidate for United States Senate?” (Mac users can access Sam Rohrer‘s responses.)

Check out the complete answers from Marc Scaringi as well as his response to “In 75 words or less, please tell the voters why they should vote for you – why are you the best candidate for United States Senate?” (Note: This is a scanned document the AFA of PA received via email from the Scaringi campaign. It is large and will take a little while to open.)

Because of Senator Casey’s incumbent status we referred to our US Senate Scorecard.

Action Steps

1.) Click here for the non-partisan AFA of PA US Senate voter guide. (Mac users here’s the United States Senate Voter Guide. ) These are designed as two-sided bulletin inserts. Our legal counsel has reviewed the voter guide and determined it can legally be used in churches because of its non-partisan nature. Click here for the “Legal Do’s and Don’ts for Churches/Pastors.

2.) Additionally, is there someone you know who will not be able to make it to the polls on April 24th? Why not ask them to vote via absentee ballot? Click here for information on how to do that. The process involves an application, a couple mailings back and forth between the voter and county courthouse, so don’t wait till the last minute!

AFA of PA ACTION ALERT

March 15, 2012

Issue

Extremely BAD Judicial Nominee Vote Today!

Details

Michael W. Fitzgerald has been nominated by President Obama to the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Vote on this nomination will come before the full Senate today! Following are some reasons to oppose this nomination:

1.) Fitzgerald Is A Member of An Activist Group That Worked to Bar the Military ROTC From Harvard.

2.) Fitzgerald Opposed Proposition 8 — the Successful Amendment to the California Constitution to Protect Marriage.

3.) Fitzgerald Has a History of Using the Judiciary to Advance his Social Agenda. In 1990, Fitzgerald sued the FBI in a pro-bono case alleging that his client, an FBI special agent, had his security clearance revoked because he was a homosexual. Fitzgerald brought this case despite his client’s open admission that he lied during an FBI investigation. The FBI contended that Fitzgerald’s client had his security clearance revoked because of his admitted deception. Rather than focus on the issue of his client’s lies to federal investigators, Fitzgerald fought the FBI by painting their policies as imbued with “bigotry and ignorance.”

4.) Fitzgerald Is a Member of a Numerous Organizations That Use Sexual Opportunism to Advance Their Agenda. Fitzgerald is or was an active member in the following radical leftist homosexual advocacy groups: Stonewall Democratic Club, Lesbian and Gay Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, Harvard-Radcliffe Gay and Lesbian Caucus, Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center, and the “No on Proposition 8” campaign.

Confirming Fitzgerald would risk empowering him to expand the scope of non-discrimination laws to include sexual orientation and gender identity. Fitzgerald’s actions in Buttino v. F.B.I demonstrate his willingness to use judicial authority to advance his social agenda. Moreover, his willingness to brand policies that he disagrees with as imbued with “bigotry and ignorance” lends to the logical conclusion that he would continue to do so once confirmed to a federal judgeship.

Action Steps

Contact Senators Bob Casey, Jr. and Pat Toomey and ask them to vote ‘no’ on the confirmation of Michael Fitzgerald for U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. To contact Senator Casey call his Washington office at 866-802-2833 or (202) 224-6324 AND use the webform at www.casey.senate.gov/contact To contact Senator Toomey call his Washington office at (202) 224-4254 AND email using the form at http://www.toomey.senate.gov/?p=contact

Even though this is for a US District Judge in California, his decisions will have an impact here in PA and the rest of the country.
