An Indiana University of Pennsylvania senior has been thrown out of his “Christianity 481: Self, Sin, and Salvation” class because he believes there are only two sexes – male and female – and his professor does not appreciate this view! Instead she has contacted the Provost, who has in turn sent a letter of reprimand to the student demanding that he write a written apology to the professor for his “disrespectful behavior” and offer a verbal apology to the class, then sit down and listen as his fellow students and the professor express their feelings “during Lake’s disrespectful and disruptive outbursts.”
In the past courts sided with parents unless there was evidence of child abuse or neglect, but that can no longer be guaranteed. Increasingly courts are not viewing parents as those who know best for their children and are siding more on the “rights of the child.” A Parental Rights Amendment to the US Constitution must be added in order to protect parental rights. Right now a bill has been introduced in Harrisburg that would go a long way to protecting parental rights. A rally in support of those rights will be held at the State Capitol on April 10th.
HR 1865, the Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act, overwhelming passed in the US House by a vote of 388 to 25. This bill would amend Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act which has been misinterpreted by the courts to protect websites which allow classified ads linked to sex trafficking. That was never the intention of the supporters of this section and must be amended.
The congressional seat in PA’s 18th District has been vacant since October 2017 when Tim Murphy resigned. Voters will determine who finishes out his term on March 13th. Turnout by educated voters is crucial in this race. The AFA of PA has contacted the candidates and created a voter guide asking crucial questions dealing with abortion, special rights for homosexuals and transgenders, First Amendment rights of pastors, etc. Don’t live in the 18th Congressional District? Feel free to share with someone you know who does.
WW Bridal Boutique in Bloomsburg has been in business for 37 years. They will be closing their doors on March 30th because of unrelenting attacks by homosexual activists over the past four years. This truly exposes how very intolerant are those who are crying tolerance the loudest. Christians should be permitted to run their businesses according to their Christian beliefs. Thank Victoria Miller for standing strong and being an example to us all.
Courts are misinterpreting Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act to allow websites which facilitate sex trafficking not to be held accountable. Worst yet was the First Circuit Court ruling in Doe v. Backpage which held that even if Backpage had participated in the crime of sex trafficking, Section 230 shielded the company from the claims filed by child victims! This misinterpretation must be stopped and Congress has a chance to fix it!
The US Department of Education has clarified that they do not nterpret the word “sex” in Title IX as including “gender identity.” They have made it clear that they will not investigate bathroom complaints from students who identity as “transgender.” Thank Secretary of Education DeVos for this clarification.
CPAC’s convention runs from February 21-24. It is considered the premiere conservative gathering. However, it has increasingly shown its tilt to the Left and now it has rejected the application of a pro-family group to have a display table and has prevented a Christian reporter from obtaining media credentials.
State Representative Cris Dush is circulating a co-sponsorship memo in order to begin impeachment proceedings against the five PA Supreme Court justices which voted to declare the PA congressional map unconstitutional. The memo notes the order “blatantly and clearly contradicts the plain language of the Pennsylvania Constitution, engaged in misbehavior in office.” Ask your State Rep to sign on as a co-sponsor.
The Inter-American Court of Human Rights is forcing same-sex “marriage” and transgenderism on more than 16 countries in Central and South America. Under President Obama the US became a member of the Core Group on the Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Persons of the Organization of American States when it was formed in June 2016. This “Core Group” has issued a statement in support of the Inter-American Court’s actions and signed by all its members, except the United States! Thank President Trump for taking this stand.
