News Release: Philadelphia Must Pay Boy Scouts’ Legal Fees

he City of Philadelphia’s attack on the Cradle of Liberty Scout Council (COLBSA) has been going on for almost a decade. In June 2010 a federal jury found that the city had violated the Boy Scouts First Amendment rights, negotiations with the city over the COLBSA headquarters started shortly afterwards. As recently as January homosexual activists and the ACLU were pressuring the City Council to reject the COLBSA/Nutter Administration agreement reached in November 2010. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA) is pleased that the city will now be forced to pay the Scouts’ legal fees since they reneged on the agreement reached.

A coalition of pro-family groups is urging parents to keep their children home from school on the “Day of Silence,” if your school is allowing students to refuse to speak in class.

Last week the University of Pennsylvania announced, beginning July 1st, they will cover the cost of sex change surgery for their “transgender” employees. The school had already extended such insurance coverage for sexually confused students in the fall of 2010. Two days after the school’s announcement, students from the University of Pennsylvania joined students from Temple University and the Community College of Philadelphia to march through the streets of Philly protesting higher education cuts of $249 million in Governor Corbett’s budget.

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is blasting Cameron for defining marriage as only between one man and one woman and that homosexuality is unnatural and a sin.

It has been in limbo since that time because Majority Floor Leader Mike Turzai has refused to guarantee a vote in the House once the bill passes in the House State Government Committee. We need to send a message to Representative Turzai and other members of the State House!

A look at the Freedom to Marry website does list Lansdowne’s Jayne Young, Doylestown’s Libby White, Newtown’s Dennis O’Brien, Macungie’s Rick Hoffman, Easton’s Salvatore Panto, Philadelphia’s Michael Nutter and Bethlehem’s John Callahan as signers of the statement, but neither the Reading or Erie mayor is listed.

News Release: Ninth Circuit Overturns California Ban on Homosexual Marriage

Today a three judge panel of the Ninth US Circuit Court of Appeals declared California’s Proposition 8, the voter referendum banning same-sex so-called marriage, unconstitutional. It will be appealed to a full panel of the Ninth Circuit. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), an advocate for natural marriage, is disappointed by the ruling, but not surprised.
