PA Attorney General Will Not Defend DOMA – May be Good Decision

(Harrisburg) — Today Pennsylvania’s Attorney General Kathleen Kane announced that she would not defend the commonwealth’s Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) against the ACLU lawsuit filed on Tuesday.  The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA) is not surprised by this decision and believes if Kane had taken the case she would have done a lackluster job defending natural marriage.

“Kathleen Kane was endorsed by Equality PA last year when she ran for office, so her decision to toe their line in this issue comes as no surprise.   It is probably in the best interest of the Commonwealth for Kathleen Kane not to defend DOMA since she supports so-called same-sex “marriage”  and would not provide an adequate defense of a law which was passed overwhelming by the legislature in 1996.  This has become a trend with Democrats being unable to do their jobs properly in defending natural one man one woman marriage,” Diane Gramley, president of the AFA of PA commented upon hearing the announcement.

Homosexual activists have been emboldened by last month’s US Supreme Court decision which declared Section 3 of the federal Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional.  That decision, however, allows states, like Pennsylvania, to legally define marriage as only between one man and one woman.  This lawsuit is simply another effort to legitimize a dangerous lifestyle which is revealed very clearly with even a casual look at statistics from the Centers for Disease Control.  The CDC reports that over three quarters of all new HIV infections are men who have sex with men, while acknowledging that this group is a very small percentage of the American male population.   There are also high percentages of other sexually transmitted diseases among those who identify as homosexual.

“Attorney General Kane and other supporters of so-called same-sex “marriage” in Pennsylvania are working in partnership with only 2.7 percent of the overall PA population.  And those numbers are from the homosexual affirming group The Williams Institute and Gallup Polling from earlier this year.    Now the AFA of PA calls on Governor Tom Corbett to do what Attorney General Kathleen Kane is unable to do and defend one man one woman marriage in Pennsylvania,” Gramley concluded.
