PA Family Group Applauds North Carolina Governor for Signing Bill Protecting Women

(Harrisburg) —  Last night North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory signed a bill into law which brought a quick end to Charlotte’s ill-conceived ordinance extending special protections to homosexuals and transgenders.  The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA) applauds this move by the North Carolina legislature and the Governor.

“As Governor McCrory tweeted the ‘(O)rdinance defied common sense.’   Similar ordinances, mostly in southeastern PA, have been passed in Pennsylvania with the same lack of common sense.  Men cannot become women and vice versa — no matter what they may do to their bodies.  It is not compassion to affirm someone’s delusion,” noted Diane Gramley, president of the AFA of PA.

Noting that laws similar to the Charlotte ordinance opens the door for deviant men to enter women’ s restrooms and locker rooms, rape victims are speaking out against such efforts.

Stories from Canada  and states in the US tell of sexual predators claiming to be transgender in order to gain access to homeless shelters    and bathrooms.

“Biological women and men have a right to privacy when using the bathroom.  They should not be forced to share facilities designated for a specific sex with the opposite sex.  Such constitutes sex discrimination.  The PA legislature should take note of such dangers and they should stand in support of a woman’s safety as they consider Pennsylvania’s ill-conceived bills HB 1510 and SB 974.  These bills, if passed, would create laws based on behavior and who one claims to be — what behavior will be protected next?” Gramley asked.
