Philadelphia Republicans Make Wrong Move in Endorsing Homosexual Activist for Council

(Philadelphia) – Three homosexuals are running for Philadelphia City Council – two Democrats and one Republican.   In fact the Republican City Committee of Philadelphia has endorsed Malcolm Lazin, executive director of Equality Forum.  The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide traditional values group, points to such actions as the reason many conservatives are leaving the Republican Party.

“Malcolm Lazin is just using the Republican Party for political opportunism.  There’s no doubt his heart lies with the Democratic Party as is evidenced by his campaign contributions in the last number of years – Ed Rendell, Dwight Evans, Kevin Lee and Mike Erdos, name a few.  His biggest contributions were to Rendell and, as apparent political payback, Rendell’s Department of Community and Economic Development contributed $275,000 to Lazin’s Equality Forum between 2004 and 2007.  The AFA of PA obtained these numbers through a Right to Know Request,” commented Diane Gramley, President of the AFA of PA.

Lazin uses Equality Forum programs to advocate for same-sex marriage, revise history claiming that Abraham Lincoln and other historical figures were homosexual, rewrite what Scripture says about the sin of homosexuality and ‘encourage’ corporations to add sexual orientation and gender identity to their corporate policies.

“Neither Lazin nor the Republican City Committee of Philadelphia has apparently read the Republican Platform which supports natural marriage between one man and one woman and opposes allowing homosexuals to serve in the military.  Republicans have endorsed RINOs before, but their endorsement of seasoned homosexual activist Malcolm Lazin is incomprehensible,” further commented Gramley.

If Malcolm Lazin wins the at-large seat on the Philadelphia City Council, the settlement between the City of Philadelphia and the Cradle of Liberty Scout Council will be in jeopardy as Lazin has expressed outrage over the arrangement.

As a homosexual activist, Lazin will likely use his position as a bully pulpit to advance his agenda into turning Philadelphia into an even more ‘gay-friendly’ city.
