Right to Bear Arms Protection Act
The US has already reached its legal debt ceiling and we are near the point of defaulting on our obligations. Yet the White House’s attention is not on the pending fiscal crisis, but they are taking advantage of a December tragedy of another sort. Remember former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel? Since the tragic shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, there has been increased talk of more laws to restrict our Second Amendment right to bear arms. This has come mostly on the federal level, although today New York Governor Cuomo introduced legislation in that state that will make it the most comprehensive in the nation affecting everything except “rifles and shotguns used by traditional sportsmen and hunters.”
Wyoming State House members have already introduced a bill to protect the Second Amendment. On Friday PA State Representative Daryl Metcalfe began circulating a Co-sponsorship Memoranda for the “Right to Bear Arms Protection Act.”
The Founding Fathers intention for the Second Amendment was not simply to arm the military or allow American citizens the use of firearms for hunting, but it was to give citizens the ability to protect themselves.
