Every two years the majority of schools in Pennsylvania administer the Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS). It is an intrusive survey asking students about criminal acts, suicide, guns, alcohol and illegal drug use of not only the student, but the student’s family. There are also several questions about the student’s relationship with their mother and father, insults and arguments within the family, siblings’ alcohol and drug use, etc. Check out the questions and see if you want your child to participate!
The promoters of porn claim there are no harms, yet increasingly the harms of porn are being exposed. We see increased sexual assault (i.e. child on child assault, teacher on student assault, babies being sexuall assaulted, campus rape culture etc), sex trafficking is on the rise, sexual addictions, etc. etc. We need to become educated on the harms of pornography!
By many this is considered an off-year election because the only statewide races are judicial races. However, one thing we can’t forget is NO election is unimportant. Decisions that these judges make will help or harm everyone. The questions are: Will they follow the US and PA Constitutions or will they legislate from the bench? Will they be part of the judicial tyranny problem or will they uphold their oath of office?
Parental rights are slowly being stripped away by an overreaching government. Recent court cases have, too many times, sided with the state and not parents. Parental rights should be fundamental rights protected in the Constitution and not tossed aside by an ever intrusive government. Come to hear about recent parental rights cases, actions that are being taken to protect parental rights and steps you can take to join in the effort.
US Attorney General Jeff Sessions issued two very important memos addressing Title VII and religious freedom. Both of these had been misinterpreted over the last eight years which resulted in misrepresenting what the original intents of the authors of Title VII and the First Amendment were. These memos bring common sense back into these documents.
AFA of PA encourages Christians, through education, to become involved in pro-family issues in their community, state and the nation. This is some of what has been going on in the Commonwealth and the nation.
The November 7th election is quickly approaching. Are you registered to vote? Will you need to vote via absentee ballot? The deadline for registering is in just a few days and you should start the absentee ballot process now!
Certain ultrasounds can detect the heartbeat of an unborn baby between six and seven weeks! A bill was introduced in the US House in January that would protect babies from abortion once a heartbeat is detected. It has been sitting in committee since February 6th. If your congressman is not one of the 168 co-sponsors, please ask him to become one!
The US House has passed the “Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act” by a vote of 237 to 189. Only three Democrats voted for HR 36 — none from PA! This bill would ban abortions after 20 weeks, when research has shown a baby feels pain. The US is only one of seven nations that allow babies in the womb to be ripped apart limb by limb. The bill now goes to the US Senate, where its prospect of passing does not look good.
The US House will once again be voting to ban abortions after 20 weeks. This has passed in the House twice before, but failed in the US Senate. However, now we have a President who has promised to sign this legislation if it reaches his desk. The “Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act” would ban abortions after babies in the womb can feel pain — 20 weeks. There are only seven nations in the world that allow abortions after 20 weeks, these include China, North Korea and the United States. What a tragedy that the US shares this terrible distinction with dictatorships!
