AFA of PA encourages Christians, through education, to become involved in pro-family issues in their community, state and the nation. This is some of what has been going on in the Commonwealth and the nation.
Friday, April 11th has been declared the “Day of Silence” by the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network (GLSEN) and, according to them, it is a day set aside when “students from middle school to college take a vow of silence in an effort to encourage schools and classmates to address the problem of anti-LGBT behavior by illustrating the silencing effect of bullying and harassment on LGBT students and those perceived to be LGBT.” However, as noted by the American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), the ultimate goal is to normalize homosexuality, bisexuality and transgenderism.
Last week Diane Gramley, President of the American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), spoke at a news conference in front of the Washington, DC headquarters of the homosexual lobby group Human Rights Campaign. She focused on the statistics from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) which outline the dangers associated with the homosexual lifestyle and questioned the use of the word ‘pride’ after looking at the multiple health risks. This past Sunday’s Philadelphia Pride Festival proved her point.
Today is the 19th National HIV Testing Day – “Take the Test. Take Control.” In 2006 the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) began recommending that every American aged 13 to 64 be tested annually for HIV/AIDS, saying it “should be as common as a cholesterol check.” The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), is appalled that the CDC continues ignoring its own statistics and pretend HIV is not a ‘gay disease’ as Matt Foreman, former executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force said.
Late afternoon on Friday came the under-the-radar-screen Presidential Proclamation declaring June as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month. From his May 9th announcement supporting same-sex so-called marriage to this pride month proclamation, President Obama continues to move away from the mainstream of America. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide traditional values group, has two questions (1) why would any politician turn his or her back on so many American voters? and (2) the homosexual lifestyle-what is there to be proud of?
Recently the White House named the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network (GLSEN) as one of its Champions of Change in Week 20: Suicide Prevention. This move again cements the Obama Administration to the promotion of homosexuality which goes hand in hand with the June 17th announcement that the Department of Adolescent and School Health (DASH) at the Centers for Disease Control had given a five-year annually renewable grant to GLSEN to “identify and maintain ‘safe spaces’ for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth” in our nation’s schools. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide traditional values group advocating for the well-being of children, notes that one of those school districts is in Philadelphia.
Today is the first day of a two-day LGBT Youth Summit in Washington, DC sponsored by the US Department of Education and paid for by our tax dollars. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide children’s advocacy organization, expressed concern that the Department of Education is working to mislead and misinform students about the homosexual, bisexual and transgender lifestyles.
Today the CDC released its 2008 HIV statistics once again showing that men who have sex with men is the leading ‘transmission category’ for HIV. Passing special rights ‘sexual orientation’ laws is a mistake.
State Representative Babette Josephs should have read our news release concerning “Freedom to Marry Week” in its entirety before blasting the AFA of PA. Our statistics were not pulled out of thin air, but were from that ‘far-right wing organization’ called the CDC!
