World AIDS Day was first established in 1988 by the World Health Organization to unite communities to fight against HIV/AIDS. The US theme for 2015 is “The Time to Act is Now.” The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide advocate for Biblical morality, abstinence until marriage and faithfulness within marriage, agrees that the time to act is now, but the first step is the need for honesty.
Today is the 19th National HIV Testing Day – “Take the Test. Take Control.” In 2006 the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) began recommending that every American aged 13 to 64 be tested annually for HIV/AIDS, saying it “should be as common as a cholesterol check.” The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), is appalled that the CDC continues ignoring its own statistics and pretend HIV is not a ‘gay disease’ as Matt Foreman, former executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force said.
Today the CDC released its 2008 HIV statistics once again showing that men who have sex with men is the leading ‘transmission category’ for HIV. Passing special rights ‘sexual orientation’ laws is a mistake.
Matt Foreman, Executive Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, shock convention goers by referring to CDC statistics and declaring “HIV is a gay disease.”
