Yesterday the State Senate Finance Committee advanced SB 300 which would prioritize spending to make public health entities the top priority for taxpayer funding and placing Planned Parenthood at the end of the list. Those who oppose this life-saving bill call it “an attack on women and family health.” Thank those committee members who voted for it and ask your State Senator to support it!
Planned Parenthood in PA receives $9 million in state taxpayer dollars each year. In addition this is matched by a 3-1 federal matching grant! In mid-November draft language of the Fiscal Code in both the State House and State Senate contained Priorities language which would have restricted the flow of state tax dollars to Planned Parenthood. Governor Wolf said it was a “non-starter” and the language was stripped from both versions. On January 12, the State House passed the Fiscal Code without Priorities language. It now sits in the Senate Rules Committee.
