The congressional seat in PA’s 18th District has been vacant since October 2017 when Tim Murphy resigned. Voters will determine who finishes out his term on March 13th. Turnout by educated voters is crucial in this race. The AFA of PA has contacted the candidates and created a voter guide asking crucial questions dealing with abortion, special rights for homosexuals and transgenders, First Amendment rights of pastors, etc. Don’t live in the 18th Congressional District? Feel free to share with someone you know who does.
AFA of PA encourages Christians, through education, to become involved in pro-family issues in their community, state and the nation. This is some of what has been going on in the Commonwealth and the nation.
Remember House Resolution 535, a non-binding resolution declaring 2012 the Year of the Bible, passed unanimously in the State House on January 28th. Since then some liberal Democrats said the resolution was sneaked passed them and hidden in amongst several other bills and they would not have voted for it if they’d known it was there. According to the Philadelphia Weekly State Representatives Babette Josephs and Mark Cohen “and others” have apologized for their vote to declare 2012 the Year of the Bible.
Ultra liberal State Representative Mark Cohen and his fellow Democrat Greg Vitali (this is the guy who in 2006 compared those supporting the PA Marriage Protection Amendment with “those who flew the planes into the World Trade Center on 911”) have introduced a motion for reconsideration of non-binding House Resolution 535 which declares 2012 “The Year of the Bible.” The resolution passed unanimously on January 28th — meaning Cohen also voted for it, but he says the resolution was, ” buried with a whole bunch of other resolutions at a time when legislators were focused on getting on the ballot and running for re-election.” Maybe he should read the bill before he votes on it!
