There is another opportunity to stop the use of tax dollars for so-called sex change surgeries for children. Even though this language was stripped from the House CHIP bill before final passage, another bill — HB 1933 — has been introduced and passed out of the State House Health Committee. This bill would ban the use of tax dollars for not only sex change surgeries, but ban reimbursements for puberty blockers, cross sex hormones and other drugs used in this destructive and impossible attempt to change a child’s sex, as well as pro-transgender counseling!
HB 1388 is the bill to reauthorize the Children’s Health Insurance Program or CHIP. In the Senate an amendment was added that would prohibit the use of tax dollars for so-called sex reassignment surgeries for children in the program. The bill passed in the senate by a vote of 37-13 and it is now in the House. LGBT activists are pressuring House leadership to remove the amendment from the final bill.
AFA of PA Weekly Update for the week ending March 16, 2012 is now available.
Last week the University of Pennsylvania announced, beginning July 1st, they will cover the cost of sex change surgery for their “transgender” employees. The school had already extended such insurance coverage for sexually confused students in the fall of 2010. Two days after the school’s announcement, students from the University of Pennsylvania joined students from Temple University and the Community College of Philadelphia to march through the streets of Philly protesting higher education cuts of $249 million in Governor Corbett’s budget.
