News Release: State College Super Says Men in Dresses OK

The State College School District made its first mistake by offering health insurance benefits to opposite sex domestic partners as well as married couples. In May they were sued by a lesbian employee to extend those benefits to her and her partner and to change their policy to also include same-sex domestic partners. Last night the school district, under pressure from the ACLU and the lesbian couple, voted to change its health insurance coverage policies to include same-sex domestic partners.

Today the Williams Institute, which ‘advances sexual orientation law and public policy,’ released a study proclaiming that 1.7 percent of the nation’s population identify as ‘gay or lesbian,’ 1.8% are bisexual and about 700,000 identify as transgender. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide pro-family group, notes that this continues the trend of homosexual advocacy groups backing away from the Alfred Kinsey claim that homosexuals make up 10 percent of the US population.

News Release: Abington School District Approves Wrong Policy

In a move to place pressure on the Abington Township Board of Commissioners to pass a so-called anti-discrimination ordinance which includes sexual orientation and gender identity, last night the Abington School District approved a policy change adding that same terminology to their “Non-discrimination – Professional and Non-Professional Employees” policy. In an e-mailed statement, the American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a student advocacy group, expressed concern that the district’s move may place employees as well as students in danger.

What other law is passed simply based upon the sexual activity in which you engage or who you THINK you are? This has nothing to do with civil rights since such laws historically have been extended to groups which show immutable (unchangeable) characteristics, political powerlessness, and have experienced a long history of discrimination.

In Haverford Township the so-called anti-discrimination ordinance was taken off the table and reconsidered Monday night. By a vote of 5-3 with one abstention it will advance to the next step. Questions still remain unanswered. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide pro-family group, asked questions in an e-mail sent to each commissioner on November 8th and again on January 10th before the meeting.
News Release: Hatboro Council Fails to Override Veto

The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide traditional values group, commends Hatboro Mayor Norm Hawkes for listening to his constituents and vetoing the so-called ‘anti-discrimination’ ordinance on Monday, December 6th. Ordinance No. 998 passed the Borough Council by a 4-3 vote on November 22nd.
