Chick-Fil-A Has Said They Will No Longer Donate to Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Other “Anti-LGBT” Groups

Details

I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt when I first heard about it, but the more I’ve read the more it is apparent that Chick-fil-A has caved under pressure from LGBTQ+ groups.  Believe me, this is only the camel’s nose under the tent.  These groups will now demand even more from Chick-Fil-A. They are never satisfied until they have forced companies to celebrate their lifestyle choice.

Chick-fil-A is changing its charitable policy to focus on organizations which provide support for education, homelessness and hunger.  This will replace its current donations to the Salvation Army, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and the Paul Anderson Youth Home which have received millions from Chick-Fil-A in the past few years.

Even though they have recently been turned away at US airports and college campuses and the landlord of their first United Kingdom location announced after eight days its lease would not be renewed because of its perceived anti-LGBT stance,  Chick-Fil-A is the third largest US fast-food chain with $10.5B in sales.  They are placed behind McDonalds and Starbucks and we all know how pro-LGBTQ+ they are!!

“There’s no question we know that, as we go into new markets, we need to be clear about who we are,” Chick-fil-A President and Chief Operating Officer Tim Tassopoulos said in an interview with Bisnow. “There are lots of articles and newscasts about Chick-fil-A, and we thought we needed to be clear about our message.” But after years of “taking it on the chin,” as a Chick-fil-A executive told Bisnow, the latest round of headlines was impossible to ignore. This time, it was impeding the company’s growth.  Future partners could include faith-based and non-faith-based charities, but the company said none of the organizations have anti-LGBT positions.

However, there’s conflicting reporting on this issue as Newsweek reports, “Chick-fil-A did not return a request for comment seeking to clarify whether the company might consider giving money to organizations such as FCA or the Salvation Army in future, or whether other religious groups opposed to same-sex relationships might benefit from their donations.”

As noted in the first paragraph of this alert, this is only the camel’s nose under the tent and LGBT activists are already demanding more:  “Following the announcement, LGBTQ+ rights group GLAAD said they were skeptical that Chick-fil-A are fully committed to ending their association with perceived anti-LGBTQ+ organizations or even moving away from its own conservative views.   In addition to refraining from financially supporting anti-LGBTQ organizations, Chick-fil-A still lacks policies to ensure safe workplaces for LGBTQ employees and should unequivocally speak out against the anti-LGBTQ reputation that their brand represents.”
