Harrisburg Rally and COVID-19 Questions

Details Today there will be a rally at the State Capital in Harrisburg urging Governor Wolf to Reopen Pennsylvania.      Watch here

Here are some stats to consider: In total, the CDC estimates that up to 42.9 million people got sick during the 2018-2019 flu season, 647,000 people were hospitalized and 61,200 died. That’s fairly on par with a typical season, and well below the CDC’s 2017-2018 estimates of 48.8 million illnesses, 959,000 hospitalizations and 79,400 deaths.   Here’s the link to a US specific map tallying case numbers, deaths, total recoveries.

Let’s look at the PA numbers as of yesterday:  32,284 cases (67 counties) Negative 126,570 Deaths 1,112    (624 deaths in nursing homes/personal care facilities; (total# hospitalized since 3.6.20 –  2,657; 651 on ventilators

On April 6, 2020 the PA Health Department reported 129,912 seasonal flu cases. This note was on the 2019/2020 Influenza Season Data Page that day: 2019/2020 Influenza Season Data: Influenza activity has decreased significantly, so the Bureau of Epidemiology will stop updating this flu activity webpage and last posted reported is for week 13 that ended on 28 March 2020. The report will be updated when flu activity increases with the beginning of the next flu season.

So . . . are they counting seasonal flu as COVID-19 cases also??   What about recovery numbers?

Action Steps Join the AFA of PA in contacting the PA Department of Health and demand they release the COVID-19 recovery numbers.  Such numbers are available in other states!    You can use the Dept of Health’s contact form

Call Governor Wolf at 717-787-2500 or email him here   Demand that COVID-19 recovery numbers be released and that he reopen PA!
