Christians Have Important Decisions to Make This Season and Beyond

Details

The past few weeks have been disappointing for those who hold Biblical values.

  • Chick-fil-A Foundation announced they will no longer support the Salvation Army, Fellowship of Christian Athletes or the Paul Anderson Youth Home, which Truitt Cathy, the founder of Chick-fil-A, helped establish and served on the board for decades.    Why?  Because the Southern Poverty Law Center deems them anti-LGBTQ.
  • Last week the Hallmark Channel announced it would pull ads from Zola.com which featured same-sex “weddings.”  Earlier this week, they reversed that decision after getting pushback from celebrities like William Shatner and lesbian show host Ellen DeGeneres, apologizing for “the hurt and disappointment this has caused.”     Additionally, Bill Abbott, CEO of Hallmark’s parent company , Crown Media Family Networks, told The Hollywood Reporter’s podcast in November, “We’re open to really any type of movie of any type of relationship.”
  • Now, Netflix is airing The First Temptation of Christ about Jesus bringing home his homosexual “friend” Orlando to meet the family after his 40 days in the desert.   He met Orlando in the desert and he helped Jesus understand that he really wanted to be a juggler.  The movie is course, vulgar and blasphemous.  This forty three-minute Brazilian “comedy” is but the latest example of the bad stuff that Netflix allows to show.

Action Steps

Scripture tells us to be in the world, but not of it.  Is it time for Christians to re-examine where they spend their money?  Should they be in the viewership of the Hallmark Channel or should they subscribe to Netflix?  There are more people in this nation who object to the content of these movies and ads which are pushing the normalization of homosexuality than those who support them, but the mainstream media portrays the situation directly oppose of what it really is.  Can we take the necessary steps by taking our hard-earned dollars elsewhere?   There are Christian alternatives, such as pureflix.com,  that offers family-friendly movies.
