Oreo Did What??
Details
World Pride Day was held in New York City on June 30th. One of the biggest pieces of news out of that event is the Pronoun Packs created by Oreo and Oreo cookie pins reading “Ask Me My Pronouns” were distributed to participants of World Pride. This is as a result of Oreo’s partnership with the National Center for Transgender Equality. Oreo posted on Facebook, ““We’re proud to celebrate inclusivity for all gender identities and expressions. In partnership with NCTE, we’re giving away special edition Pronoun Packs and encouraging everybody to share their pronouns with Pride today and every day. We’re proud to celebrate inclusivity for all gender identities and expressions. “Three different packs—’she/her,’ ‘he/him,’ and ‘they/them’—had pronouns written on the cookies themselves, with blue, pink and purple packaging reminiscent of the transgender flag,” Newsweek reports.
Action Steps
The Oreo was introduced in 1912 and is probably the best-selling cookie in the US. It is now owned by Mondelez International. I don’t think back in 1912 they would have ever thought their cookie would have been used to promote transgenderism!
