Canada Seeking to Change US Civil Rights Law

Details

The language elevating “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” to a protected class must be removed from the United-States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) before being ratified by Congress!

President Trump will be heading to the G-20 meeting tomorrow.  While there he is expected to join the Mexican President and Canadian Prime Minister to sign the US Mexico Canada Agreement.   However, it’s clear that Liberal Party Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is a driving force behind the pro-LGBT language.

In a statement to Global News, a spokesperson from an “LGBTQ2+” advocacy group said it strongly stands by the clause in the deal, and encourages Canada to stand by it.

“We firmly believe that any new international trade agreement should uphold Canada’s human rights values and should strive to be more inclusive, especially regarding labour and gender rights as well as all anti-discrimination policies towards any minority group.”

As thirty-eight Congressmen noted in a letter to President Trump:  To include this language in the trade agreement would circumvent the proper legislative process for determining matters regarding the redefinition of “sex” in federal law and will provide direct conflict with many existing laws, precedent, and religious liberty and conscience rights. Existing provisions within the USMCA will establish special rights for “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” as the supreme law of the land via the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution. And, including “sex discrimination” in the USMCA could “cause unnecessary confusion in future international treaties as well as domestic laws and policies,” in addition to setting a “dangerous precedent for courts and future Administrations to build upon.”

Congress has repeatedly rejected the concept that our Civil Rights law should include “gender identity” and the other pro-LGBT protections. We cannot allow Canada’s extreme LGBT agenda to dictate US social policy!

Action Steps

Contact President Trump and ask him not to sign the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement until the controversial “sexual orientation/gender identity” language is removed.
