The US Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, has announced her resignation effective the end of this year. President Trump is considering her replacement from a short list of five – one of which is the open homosexual ambassador to Germany! Also, since President Obama’s first term the US has been a member of the “LGBT Core Group,” a group that pushes for the addition of ‘sexual orientation and gender identity’ in international law.
Pastor Andrew Brunson has ministered in Turkey for 20 years, but two years ago he was put on trial for “Christianization” with the judge trying to link him to terrorist groups that were trying to overthrow the Turkish president. Pastor Brunson spent almost two years in a Turkish prison and months under house arrest. President Trump placed Brunson’s release as one of his priorities and today his efforts produced fruit and Pastor Brunson is on the way back to the United States! President Trump deserves our thanks for his unrelenting efforts on Pastor Brunson’s behalf.
The GOP has jumped through all the hoops demanded of Democrats and Judge Brett Kavanaugh has survived all the demands for additional hearings and a seventh FBI investigation. The road appears cleared for a confirmation vote on Saturday. The Democrats have tried their best to derail this nomination and destroy the lives of Judge Kavanaugh and his family in the process.
Too many schools today avoid any semblance of being patriotic. Too many times students are indoctrinated with anti-American propaganda, all in the guise of education. Some have accused Mars Area School District in Butler County of having a “USA” theme at the September 14th home football game to specifically disparage their opponent’s school which has a majority African-American student population. Thank the school superintendent and board president for their stand.
Accusations of sexual misconduct have been leveled at Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh by several women who cannot remember key details and whose stories cannot be corroborated. They and Senate Democrats are calling for an FBI investigation into the matter and are saying the vote on Kavanaugh must be delayed. The Senate Judiciary Committee has been working for two weeks with the lawyer of the first accuser, but the accuser keeps making excuses as to why she cannot testify. The hearing is scheduled for tomorrow. Unfortunately, it will probably turn into a circus even as the Left attempted to turn Kavanaugh’s hearings into one.
The United States gives its citizens to opportunity to vote for her leaders. Now is not the time to become complacent! The very future of our nation may depend upon this November’s election! There are numerous examples of elections being determined by one vote – so yes, your vote is important! However, no one can vote unless they are registered and that deadline is fast approaching. Also, being ill or out of town is no reason not to vote – apply for an absentee ballot!!
How important is the US Constitution?? Today is a good time to reexamine its importance and be reminded of how very much we need to get back to what the writers of this document intended for this nation. We need to also be reminded how much these writers depended upon God and recognized the need to keep Him first.
The Equal Rights Amendment was sent to Congress in 1972 with a seven-year time frame to get 38 states to ratify it. The goal was not reached and an extension was approved by Congress. That second goal was not reached and, at that time, the supporters of the ERA agreed it was dead. However, in today’s crazy world it has been resurrected and its proponents are saying they only need three states to ratify it in order for the ERA to become part of the US Constitution – totally ignoring the deadline has passed twice and five states have rescinded their original approval!!
The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission has overstepped its legal authority and has issued “guidance” which expands their reach. The Commission will now investigate complaints based on “sexual orientation and gender identity or expression” as a form of sex discrimination—even though the law has NOT changed! So, they will now investigate Christian businesses, such as WW Bridal Boutique, when the owners have a deeply held religious belief that engaging in homosexual acts is sin and direct the homosexual couple wanting brides’ gowns, or a “wedding” cake or flowers for their “wedding” to their competitor down the street. Also, if a business owner responds to complaints by female customers about the man in their restroom, by asking the male to use the men’s room – that owner will have a complaint filed against him. Only one commissioner sided with sanity!!
PA’s legislature will soon be back in session to finish up their work in Harrisburg. During the few days they have left before the end of the session, much good or evil can be done that will impact every Pennsylvanian. Pray that they will be wise in the votes they make and that those who want to protect life, natural family, students, taxpayer dollars, etc. will be courageous in their efforts to do so.
