Governor Corbett Decision to Defend DOMA Applauded

(Harrisburg) —  Governor Corbett’s general counsel has announced his office will take up the job of defending Pennsylvania’s Defense of Marriage Act.   The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide advocate for natural marriage, applauds this decision.

“Attorney General Kathleen Kane is guilty of dereliction of duty in her refusal to defend the Commonwealth’s laws.  She is ignoring the responsibilities of her office.  The announcement from Governor Corbett’s general counsel is most welcome.  The US Supreme Court’s DOMA decision did not legalize same-sex “marriage” in any state where it was not already legal and made it very clear that state’s had a right to forbid so-called same-sex marriage.  Pennsylvania needs to come down on the right side of history and maintain natural one man one woman marriage,” Diane Gramley, president of the AFA of PA responded.

AG Kane is allowing her personal support for same-sex “marriage” to get in the way of her legal responsibility to defend the law.  She is following the wrong example of US Attorney General Eric Holder and Governor Corbett is following the right example of the US House in stepping in the defend Pennsylvania’s Defense of Marriage Act.

“The actions from Governor Corbett’s office were anxiously awaited and  he is doing the right thing in defending the basic building block of our society. There is no right to marriage and those who seek to redefine it are doing so to legitimize their lifestyle using the force of law.  Governor Corbett’s decision is what is best for all children in the Commonwealth,” continued Gramley.

In July 2010, Kansas State University Family Studies professor Dr. Walter Schumm released a comprehensive study on the effects of homosexual “parenting.” Published in the Journal of Biosocial Science, the study determined, among other things:

  • Children raised in “gay” households are up to 12 times more likely to self-identify as “gay”;
  • Of those in their 20s – presumably after they’d been able to work out any adolescent confusion or experimentation – 58 percent of the children of lesbians called themselves “gay,” and 33 percent of the children of “gay” men called themselves “gay.”

University of Southern California researchers Judith Stacey and Timothy J. Biblarz found that children raised by homosexual parents are more likely to engage in homosexual behavior themselves and that females raised by homosexual parents are more promiscuous.

“(A) greater number of young adult children raised by lesbians had participated in or considered a same-sex relationship or had an attraction to the same sex. …Adolescent and young adult girls raised by lesbian mothers appear to be more sexually adventurous and less chaste,” the study found, according to USC News.

The Boston Phoenix, a homosexual activist newspaper, reported that “as Paula Ettlebrick of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force puts it, Stacy and Biblarz have ‘burst the bubble of one of the best-kept community secrets.'”
