Haverford Library Warned About Drag Queen Story Hour; Commissioner Thanked for His Boldness

(Harrisburg) — On Saturday the Haverford Township Library in Delaware County will be permitting a Drag Queen Story Hour, but that is only the beginning!  The library plans an entire afternoon of “Pride Day” activities.  The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide organization which advocates for children and educates on the dangers of the LGBTQ lifestyles has contacted the library expressing concerns.  Additionally, during Monday night’s Haverford Township’s Commissioners’ meeting only one had the courage to stand up for children!

Commissioner Jim McGarrity was the only Haverford Township commissioner who showed real concern for the children of that township during Monday night’s meeting.  He adamantly opposed Saturday’s Drag Queen Story Hour and the AFA of PA has contacted him expressing our thanks.

“The Haverford Township Library is not just permitting a Drag Queen Story Hour, but they are using the rest of the afternoon to be promoters of the LGBTQ agenda.  This promotion includes partnering with homosexual groups like PFLAG and apostate churches that do not adhere to Biblical teaching on the issue of sexuality.  This promotion is a great disservice to the township and a danger to the children involved.  Impressionable children should not be exposed to a situation that causes gender confusion and encourages them to accept the abnormal as normal,” commented Diane Gramley, president of the AFA of PA.

The AFA of PA’s email to the library director included the following:

Following are some reasons why holding a Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) in the Haverford Library is a very bad idea.  These quotes are gleaned either from drag queens or from the Drag Queen Story Hour website:

  • “DQSH captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models.”
  • “In spaces like this, kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions and imagine a world where people can present as they wish, where dress up is real.”
  • “It encourages children to look beyond gender stereotypes and embrace unfettered exploration of self.”
  • One of the DQSH leaders acknowledged, “Yes absolutely we are grooming children.”

The AFA of PA opposes using children as guinea pigs in the effort to normalize abnormal and dangerous lifestyle choices and that is exactly what Drag Queen Story Hours are.
