What Happened in New Mexico Will Happen in PA If HB or SB 300 is Passed

(Harrisburg) — Homosexual activists  and their allies in Pennsylvania say it’s all about not being fired from a job or kicked out of an apartment, but that is not the underlying reason for the push to add ‘sexual orientation and gender identity or expression’ to the PA Human Relations Act.  The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA) notes that the decision handed down by the New Mexico Supreme Court last week does not bode well for those with deeply held religious beliefs in any state that has taken the path the promoters of HB 300 and SB 300 are trying to lead Pennsylvania.

“Each of the co-sponsors of these identical bills are, knowingly or not, attacking all Christians, Jews and Muslims in Pennsylvania who adhere to their religion’s teachings that engaging in homosexual acts is sinful.  These bills are just an effort to force all Pennsylvanians to accept homosexuality as a legitimate alternative lifestyle. . . and if they don’t,  then file a complaint with the Human Relations Commission,” responded Diane Gramley, president of the AFA of PA.

Findings from “Pride and Prejudice: Employment Discrimination against Openly Gay Men in the United States,” published in the September 2011 issue of the American Journal of Sociology found  “In New York, Pennsylvania, and California, the gap between callbacks for gay and heterosexual “applicants” was insignificant.”

A June 4th report  being touted by supporters of the recently introduced homosexual special rights bills was released by the Small Business Majority which was created in 2004 by John Arensmeyer and is “an organization of progressive entrepreneurs.”         The report was the outgrowth of an ” Internet survey of 508 small business owners with oversamples of 100 respondents each in Pennsylvania, Missouri, Michigan, North Carolina and Ohio, creating a combined data set of 1,008 small business owners” conducted in April by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research, who, in their own words, ” remains committed to progressive goals, ideas, and leaders.”   Their client list includes groups like the Human Rights Campaign, Center for American Progress, Equality for All, Moveon.org, the ACLU and numerous pro-abortion groups and state teachers’ unions.    The report, needless to say, was skewed in favor of the bills.

A recent Ramussen poll shows that 85% of Americans believe the Christian New Mexico photographer has the right to refuse to photograph a same-sex ‘wedding’ ceremony because it goes against his religious beliefs.

“The many municipal meetings I’ve attend has never produced evidence that there is a current problem in Pennsylvania with homosexuals being fired or kicked out of their apartments simply for identifying as homosexual.  However, evidence from across the country, such as in New Mexico last week,  shows that there is a problem with the addition of this language to anti-discrimination laws.  And that’s not even getting into the bathroom issue with the ‘gender identity’ language, but Ted Martin, executive director of Equality PA made it very clear in 2011 that it was all about those identifying as transgenders being able to use whichever bathroom they want to use,” Gramley concluded.
