Pro-family Group Provides Information to Abington Township

(Harrisburg) – Today the American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide organization advocating for traditional values, marriage, family and children, contacted each Commissioner in Abington Township, Montgomery County concerning proposed Ordinance 2008.  This ordinance will add ‘actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression’ to a  human relations ordinance and set up a local township commission to enforce the ordinance.  Commissioners will be voting on this so-called ‘anti discrimination’ ordinance this evening.  This is one of many municipalities in southeastern PA which have been pressured to pass these homosexual special rights ordinances.

“Many people question how these ordinances are special rights ordinances.  What other laws are passed protecting a group of people simply because of the sexual activity in which they engage or who they think they are.   Other municipalities in the area which have passed these ordinances attest to the fact that they have had zero or very few complaints.  So why the push to get these passed?” questioned Diane Gramley, president of the AFA of PA.

The AFA of PA asked the questions (which thus far no one has answered, because a truthful answer would show there is no need for these ordinances):

1.)    Where is the evidence that there is wide spread discrimination against homosexuals, bisexuals and transgenders in Haverford Township?

2.)    Can they not find a job?

3.)    Can they not rent or buy a home?

4.)    Are they not permitted in restaurants or stores?

Also, some stories of  real world consequences were included in the information sent to Commissioners:

  • Philadelphia— Man demanded to use the women’s fitting room in Kmart; clerk hesitated and entire store had to go through diversity training to become more tolerant of ‘transgenders’
  • Cleveland, OH – man who believes he is a woman demands to use the women’s locker room at the city pool
  • Philadelphia attempts to evict the Cradle of Liberty Scout Council from their headquarters. The reason?  The Boy Scouts do not allow open homosexual leaders or members.
  • A bakery in Indianapolis, IN faces eviction from a city owned building because it refused to fill a call-in order from a homosexual organization.

“These questions must be honestly answered and the real world consequences must be considered before a vote can be taken on this ordinance.  It has become quite evident as to why southeastern PA municipalities are being pressured to pass these ordinances.  It has been stated numerous times that Stephen Glassman, openly homosexual chairman of the PA Human Relations Commission, and others are going to use them to put pressure on legislators in Harrisburg to pass a statewide law adding ‘actual or perceived sexual orientation and gender identity ‘ to the PA Human Relations Act.”  They are using this pressure technique to further their own agenda,” noted Gramley.
