World AIDS Day and Government Promotion of Homosexuality

(Harrisburg) —   Sunday was World AIDS Day.  On Monday President Obama said another $100 million in the federal budget would be redirected to AIDS research.  On Tuesday St. Luke’s University Health Network in Lehigh Valley gave into the demands of homosexual activists and announced it would begin offering same-sex domestic partner benefits to its employees in 2014.  The theme of World AIDS Day 2013 was “Shared Responsibility: Strengthening Results for an AIDS-Free Generation.”  The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide advocate for the natural family, is appalled at the inability of those who should know better to be able to connect the dots and continue promoting the very lifestyle that creates the AIDS crisis in America.

“Looking at CDC statistics spells it all out — men who have sex with men are the ones most likely to be HIV positive.  In 2010, the latest year complete statistics are available, 78% of new infections among men were MSM, while 63% of all new infections were men who have sex with men.    The “shared responsibility” advocated in this year’s World AIDS Day theme is a joke when the federal government and hospitals like St. Luke’s are promoting the very lifestyle that is increasing the number of AIDS cases,” commented Diane Gramley, President of the AFA of PA.

Additional information sent to St. Luke’s in an email of concern included:  “Syphilis diagnoses in the United States have increased substantially over the past decade, and most cases occurred among men who have sex with men (MSM). Nationally, rates of primary and secondary (P&S) syphilis reported among men increased, from 3.0 cases per 100,000 population in 2001 to 8.2 in 2011. In 2011, approximately 72% of P&S syphilis cases occurred among MSM.   A January 2013 CDC report “suggests that lesbians, gay men and bisexuals in this country suffer a heavy toll of sexual violence and stalking committed by an intimate partner.”

“President Obama’s additional pledge of $100 million taxpayer dollars in AIDS research again confirms that AIDS is the politically correct disease.  According to the Fair Allocations in Research Foundation, in 2013 the National Institutes of Health allocated $3.1 billion for AIDS bio-medical research.    Additionally, according to the CDC , heart disease is the number one killer of men and women in the US.  Two billion dollars in research money was allocated for that disease this year.  The FAIR Foundation makes the comparison of $2, 818 spent on each HIV/AIDS patient compared to only $25 spent on each heart disease patient this year!   Shared responsibility in fighting the AIDS crisis means not promoting the homosexual, bisexual and transgender lifestyles.  There will be no AIDS free generation until that happens,” Gramley concluded.
