US Senate to Vote on “Jobs” Bill

Details

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said he will schedule a vote to proceed to a $35 billion jobs bill tomorrow.  The $35 billion measure would direct federal funds to states to prevent layoffs of teachers, police officers and firefighters.  Most of the funding, $30 billion, would go to teachers. First responders would get $5 billion.  Democrats estimate the legislation will save or create 400,000 jobs.

This is simply another bailout to garner the support of teachers’ unions.  How many more bailouts — none have been successful so far.

In 2010 there was the $16.1 Billion Medicaid Bailout and the $10 Billion Government Union Bailout in which the unions claimed the $10 billion public-education bailout would save 100,000 teaching jobs. And of course 2009 brought auto industry and mortgage bailouts, Cash for Clunkers and so much more which resulted in wasted tax dollars.

The only thing these bailouts and “jobs bills’ have created thus far is over 9% unemployment and companies fearful of hiring because of the uncertainties with Obamacare and other government regulations that may be on the horizon.
