Episcopal Church Steps Further Away from God’s Word, With Presbyterians Close Behind

(Harrisburg) —  Today the Episcopal Church voted to take the first step in following the United Church of Christ off the heretical cliff to equate same-sex so-called marriages with God’s plan for marriage by approving a same-sex ” blessing rite”  which includes prayers, an exchange of vows and rings.  Additionally, they gave a green light for pastoral leadership to those who believe God placed them in the wrong body at birth.   The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA) notes this is yet another example of American denominations forsaking God’s Word and taking the easy path to political correctness.

“Too many in denominational leadership are forsaking their responsibilities as shepherds of their flock, ignoring Scripture and trying to play god in order to appear more ‘non-judgmental, loving and inclusive.’  There is no doubt that God is love, but he has set down certain standards and those are laid out in the Bible.  Marriage between one man and one woman was instituted by God even before the Church.  Placing those who are confused about their own sexuality in leadership within a church is not showing love and compassion, it instead feeds their delusional and erroneous belief that God made a mistake when forming them in their mother’s womb,” explained Diane Gramley, president of the AFA of PA.

Although the Presbyterian Church USA last week voted to maintain the definition of marriage as only between one man and one woman, last October the denomination ordained its first openly ‘gay’ minister.  As they’ve now decided engaging in homosexual sex is not sin, the pressure will continue to be placed upon them to step off the  heretical cliff and redefine marriage.

“According to National Council of Churches’ statistics the four top mainline denominations to lose membership last year were the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, the Presbyterian Church USA, the Episcopal Church and the United Church of Christ — all have fallen into the trap of ignoring Scripture when it comes to the homosexual issue.  The people in the pew understand Scripture better than their so-called leaders do,” Gramley noted.

From the 2012 National Council of Churches yearbook:  “Among mainline denominations, the sharpest rate of membership decline (down 5.90 percent to 4,274,855 members) was posted by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  Others posting declines include the Presbyterian Church USA (down 3.45 percent to 2,675,873), the Episcopal Church (down 2.71 percent to 1,951,907), the United Church of Christ (down 2.02 percent to 1,058,423).”
