In November President Obama nominated Loretta Lynch, the US attorney in Brooklyn, to replace outgoing Attorney General Eric Holder.
During an interview on Monday US Attorney General Eric Holder told his state counterparts, such as Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane, that is was okay not to enforce state marriage laws or state constitutional amendments that they believe are discriminatory. Even the New York Times noted, “It is highly unusual for the United States attorney general to advise his state counterparts on how and when to refuse to defend state laws.”
Saturday’s announcement by US Attorney General Eric Holder regarding same-sex so-called marriage further illustrates the Obama Administration’s attack on natural marriage and the effort to redefine that institution in all 50 states. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide advocate for natural one man one woman marriage, is appalled that the executive branch of the federal government continues to try to impose its views on those states which define marriage the way it has been defined since the founding of this nation.
Attorney General Linda Kelly has indicated she will NOT defend Pennsylvania’s Defense of Marriage Act in the court challenge pending in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. She, as the chief law enforcement officer of the Commonwealth, is in dereliction of duty even as US Attorney General Eric Holder is in not defending the federal DOMA.
