There is an attempt by liberals to remove an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act that would protect faith-based organizations that contract with the federal government from being forced to go against their beliefs in order to receive the contract.
Senator Dianne Feinstein’s S598 is not a bill that respects marriage, but rather one that would throw out the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). It is on the Senate Judiciary Committee calendar for a vote during their Executive Business Meeting beginning at 10:00 a.m. today. If it is voted out of committee, it will then go before the entire Senate for a vote. No Pennsylvanians are on the committee, but the majority Democrats are all very liberal and support the bill so there is a very good chance it will be voted out.
