HR 4174 would give the federal government the power to collect more personal data from United States citizens and share it across federal agencies. This would create a de facto national database on all Americans. The bill was pushed through with minimal debate and only one roll call vote throughout the entire process!
AFA of PA encourages Christians, through education, to become involved in pro-family issues in their community, state and the nation. This is some of what has been going on in the Commonwealth and the nation.
The Republicans had a good night on November 4th and all sorts of promises are being made about what the next Congress will do. Senator Mitch McConnell, House Speaker John Boehner and other Congressional leaders will be meeting with President Obama tomorrow. Will they remember the message the American people sent? Let’s help them out!
In the meantime, we can’t forget two things:
The Lame Duck Democrats, many of whom lost their jobs on November 2nd, continue their assault on our military! House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) and Rep. Patrick Murphy (PA-8) introduced a bill to repeal Don’t Ask Don’t Tell (DADT) Tuesday that could be inserted into a measure already passed in the Senate, a procedural maneuver that would speed up floor consideration in the Senate. Sens. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine) introduced a free-standing repeal bill (S. 4022) last Thursday.
Vote on the DREAM Act anticipated in the Senate today. Vote during the lame duck session on the repeal of the 1993 law banning homosexuals in the military seems increasingly unlikely. Senate Democrats are considering rolling all 12 spending bills into one – one vote will cover all 12 bills!
A little before 5:00 p.m. Monday evening HB 2497 – the “Pension Bailout” passed in the State House by a vote of 165 to 31. The Senate may consider 17 controversial nominees during the lame duck session.
House lame duck session will happen! Vote on the “Pension Bailout” HB 2497 will likely take place. The politics as usual crowd in Washington is trying to “corral” the incoming Freshmen this weekend to prevent them from attending a TEA Party Patriot orientation.
