Action Alert: Final Vote on Abortion Opt Out

HB 818 was voted out of the House Health Committee on April 15th along a mostly party line vote. On April 17th the House took up HB 818 on second consideration — debating and voting on amendments. All pro-abortion amendments were defeated. Remember passage of this bill would insure that Pennsylvania opts out of abortion funding under the health insurance exchange that will be created by Obamacare.

Action Alert: Governor Corbett Says ‘No’ to State Exchanges

Today Governor Corbett announced, “I have decided not to pursue a state-based health insurance exchange at this time. It would be irresponsible to put Pennsylvanians on the hook for an unknown amount of money to operate a system under rules that have not been fully written.” Click here to read the full news release. Action Alert: Governor Corbett Still Undecided on State Exchanges

Governor Corbett has not officially opted out of setting up a state exchange for Obamacare in Pennsylvania. Earlier this year Governor Corbett requested federal dollars to set up state exchanges. At his point, Pennsylvania has received a $33.8 million Level One grant from the federal Department of Health and Human Services to establish a state based exchange.
