Pornography Awareness Week 2009 Resources PORNOGRAPHY
SATURATES OUR SOCIETY: Magazines Cable and Network TV Programs Books Internet Video Adult Theatres Sexually Oriented Businesses Advertising According to Dr. Victor Cline in Pornography's
Effects on Adults and Children there is a 'near universal
four-factor syndrome' among users of pornography: 1.) addiction
effect -- they get hooked 2.) escalation
effect -- with the passage of time the users required more explicit,
rougher, more deviant kinds of sexual material to get their 'high.' 3.) desensitization
to material that previously shocked 4.) increased tendency to 'act out sexually.' MORE INFORMATION ON THE
DANGERS OF THE INTERNET CAN BE FOUND AT “Lighting
the way to protect children and families from the “An Internet saturated with pornography is making
it alarmingly easy to bring sexual temptation right into our homes. This
is a growing problem for thousands of families that struggle with the
effects of sexual compulsion and addiction. Pure Intimacy.org was
created to deal with the effects of online sexual temptation.” If you or your children have been exposed to
pornography or pornographic ads on the Internet, you may request an

Online HOW TO GET INVOLVED TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE: 1.) Write
a letter to the editor of your local newspaper to educate the community
on the dangers of pornography. 2.) A Guide to What One Person Can Do About Pornography 3.) Conduct a survey of your community. Use this handy survey as a guide as you check for the prevalence of pornography near you. 4.) Magazines at the Checkout Counter – Glossy Garbage 5.) Video Stores: Movie Gallery recently bought Hollywood Video and aggressively buys out smaller chains. Did you know that Movie Gallery is the largest video store chain to offer hardcore pornographic videos? If you see a Movie Gallery moving into your neighborhood, it is time to sound the alarm. The need to check out and monitor your local video
store is a must. Even nice
sounding stores such as “Family Video” may rent hardcore
pornographic videos. Check
it out and if you find a backroom that makes these type videos
available, voice your concerns to the management and urge him to remove
the offensive material. If
the material remains, take your business elsewhere.
Let the management know why your will no longer be a customer
there and make sure you tell your family and friends and encourage them
to do the same. Ask your
local law enforcement officer to investigate the possible obscene
material that may be in those backrooms.

there a Sheetz convenience store near you? Does it sell pornographic magazines such as Playboy, Playgirl
or Hustler? Sheetz
corporate office has made it quite clear that they believe they
are providing a much needed ‘customer service’ by making these
magazines available. In
many cases, the only thing that will send a clear message to corporations is a drop in their profit line.
And the only way that will happen is if those concerned about the
detrimental impact exposure to pornography will have on their family
takes their buying power elsewhere.
A Sheetz store may be closer and more convenient,
but do you want your dollars to support a corporation
that offers material that could destroy your family? 8.) The corporate policy of Walmart is that Glamour, Cosmopolitan and Redbook magazines WILL NOT be at the checkout counters unless they are behind blinder racks (If the manager doesn't know what these are, tell him that the magazine vendor will provide them if requested.). Increasingly there seems to be a lapse of memory on the part of local stores. Check your local Walmart to see if these three magazines are at the checkout counter. If so, please remind the store manager that this is against corporate policy. It may take a call to the district manager as it did in Grove City, Mercer County. One concerned citizen contacted the store manager and was ignored. He did not give up, but contacted the district manager and she not only saw that the Grove City store complied with policy but ALL the stores in her district did!! One person can make a difference!! 9.) XXX Church – Number One Christian Porn Site! (Don’t worry your internet filter will not block this site!) “XXXchurch
exists to bring awareness, openness, accountability and recovery to the
church, society and individuals in the issues of pornography and to
begin to provide solutions through non-judgmental and creative means.” 10.)
File
a Complaint With the FCC by going to their website.
11.) If there are porn outlets in your town, why not consider having a Motorcade for Decency or White Ribbon Campaign. IS YOUR COMMUNITY PROTECTED
