January 2005 -- Movie Gallery poised to purchase Hollywood Video. Not good news for the family-friendly reputation of Hollywood Video!

Spring 2003 -- Warren Video Update has been renamed "Movie Gallery." The backroom with the stop sign as the only deterrent for children to enter is still there. Movie Gallery's legacy continues!!

December 2002 -- Movie Gallery's latest acquisition is the Video Update Chain. Does this mean more video stores with backrooms in northwestern Pa? Yes!! The Warren, PA Video Update does have a backroom. There is no door, only a stop sign preventing your child from wandering into this room full of hardcore pornographic video covers! And it's 'conveniently' located near the video games section!

Movie Gallery is the third largest video rental chain in the nation and the largest to offer hardcore pornographic videos.

Movie Gallery loves small towns. Many people in rural communities feel safe from the likes of Movie Gallery. Many municipalities do not have any ordinances in place to protect them from sexually oriented businesses or other "adult businesses" which may decide to move into the area. Recently Movie Gallery purchased the Blowout Video chain. Usually the names of recently acquired stores maintain the original name, but after a year or so that name comes down and Movie Gallery's goes up.

About 45 % of all Movie Gallery stores have backrooms where hardcore pornographic videos are available. Much worse has also been known to take place in these backrooms. None of the Movie Gallery stores we have visited have backrooms----YET.
