New PA Court System Policy Validates Same-sex Relationships

(Harrisburg) – Friday’s memo delivered to employees of the Pennsylvania court system with their pay stubs reveals the danger of trusting the PA Supreme Court with family issues, noted the American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide pro-family group.  The memo announces the extension of domestic partner benefits to the same-sex partner of court staffers paid by the state and will include medical, dental, vision and prescription-drug plans currently offered to married heterosexual couples.

“This is a further step to take away the uniqueness of natural marriage.  The decision equates the unnatural relationship between same-sex couples to that of those involved in a one man one woman marriage,” noted Diane Gramley, president of the AFA of PA.

The idea originated with PA Supreme Court Justice Seamus McCaffrey.  This comes as no surprise to the AFA of PA which monitored the 2007 election for Supreme Court.  The homosexual affirming views of Judge McCaffrey were quite evident in voter guides he responded to.

“The Administrative Office of the Pennsylvania Courts placed the price tag at about $50,000 because so few will sign up to participate.  Let’s face it, homosexuals make up less than 3 percent of the population and homosexual activists know it.  In fact the April 2008 Human Rights Campaign study by Hunter College again confirmed this.  So the questions is: why are Pennsylvania Courts bowing to this miniscule special interest group and working to undermine marriage?” Gramley asked.

Judge McCaffrey’s comments included those about “Brown vs. Board of Education”   - the judicial decision that ended school segregation.  The Judge is wrong in equating race with homosexuality.  Race is unchangeable while homosexuality is changeable.  People are not born homosexual, as homosexual activists try to claim as they demonize those who have left the lifestyle.

“The conclusion is Judge McCaffrey has been presented the wrong evidence and has handed down the wrong decision.  He is listening to homosexual activists and in the process undermining natural marriage,” stated Gramley.
