Tools to Fight Porn

Update: The War on Illegal Pornography coalition composed a letter that was circulated for signatures in the US House and US Senate.   Senator Orrin Hatch and Congressmen Randy Forbes and Mike McIntyre led the efforts in their respective chambers. The April 2011 letter asked Attorney General Eric Holder to enforce the federal obscenity laws.  Unfortunately, when the letter was delivered it only bore the names of three PA Congressman — Joe Pitts, Mark Critz and Mike Kelly! This even after repeated attempts over several weeks to get the other 16 Congressman and Senator Toomey and Senator Casey to sign onto the letter!   Click here to read our news release.

Democrat Nelson says he won’t vote to confirm Kagan
Saturday, July 31, 2010; A02

Sen. Ben Nelson (Neb.) said Friday that he will vote against the Supreme Court nomination of Elena Kagan, the first Democrat to declare his opposition to her.

Without specifying his objections, Nelson said that constituents in his conservative-leaning state do not support Kagan’s confirmation.

“Her lack of a judicial record makes it difficult for me to discount the concerns raised by Nebraskans, or to reach a level of comfort that these concerns are unfounded,” Nelson said in a statement.

“I have heard concerns from Nebraskans regarding Ms. Kagan, and Therefore, I will not vote to confirm Ms. Kagan’s nomination,” Nelson said.

Kagan will still probably coast to confirmation, based on a Washington Post accounting of the likely voting.
