Details
As you know, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle is in the middle of a congressional hearing right now concerning the Secret Service’s response to the attempt on the life of President Donald Trump. Ms. Cheatle has come under fire since the evening of July 13th.
There had been numerous requests by the Trump campaign for additional security. All were turned down.
It has now been discovered that several of the security personnel surrounding President Trump were not Secret Service, but rather members of Homeland Security.
According to Cheatle, the roof the shooter was on was too steep for Secret Service to access!
More than an hour before the shooting, the Secret Service identified the shooter as “suspicious” but did nothing.
Then, 19 minutes before the shooting, a countersniper located the shooter at the rally and ID him as a “designated threat,” but still the Secret Service did nothing. (This happened about 10 minutes before Trump even got on stage.)
A total lack of communication as onlookers warned police that there was someone with a rifle on the roof. The message was relayed, but no response from Secret Service.
Why wasn’t every building or water tower anywhere near the rally secured?
Why were no drones used by Secret Service on that day? During a Senate hearing on July 17th, Cheatle said she chose to NOT use them during Trump’s event. The FAA says the Secret Service submitted no waiver request to fly drones.
She is now blaming local police.
Why wasn’t President Trump warned there may be an issue and he should wait before going on the stage? He knew nothing of a potential threat.
So many questions remain and these are questions that Ms. Cheatle refuses to address. She’s now saying there will be a report issued in 60 days. This is unacceptable!! Even Alexandria Ocasio Cortez AOC -(D-NY) is livid!! The buck stops with her. She is the one responsible for her agency! Cheatle has shown her incompetence.
Action Steps
Ms. Kimberly Cheatle, former Senior Director in Global Security at PepsiCo, does not seem to be qualified for the job of director of the Secret Service and should resign. It is not a Republican vs Democrat issue, it’s a commonsense issue. The security of the sitting president and vice president, former presidents and their families are the top priorities of the Secret Service.
