What Happened When a 90-Year-Old Volunteer Asked . . .
Details
for clarification on the National MS Society’s “preferred pronoun” policy? She had been a volunteer with the organization for over 60 years! Her late husband had MS. Their response to her question was a 4:58 p.m. email on a January Friday saying “It has come to our attention, that there has been a failure to abide by our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion guidelines during your time as a volunteer. Unfortunately, based on the situation, we have made the difficult decision to have you step down from you volunteer position, effective immediately.”
Once this news became public, largely thanks to Libs of TikTok, the national MS Society backtracked on February 21st: “We realize now that we made a mistake. As an organization, we fell short. We did not have clear protocols in place. We apologized to Fran directly.”
What will happen if college students are forced to take “diversity” classes in order to graduate? How will that impact not only Pennsylvania, but America as a whole. We’ve heard a lot about colleges, universities, corporations and governments putting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) policies in place, but now we know even some non-profits are too!!
As it has been confirmed that some PA colleges and universities require diversity classes for graduation, HB 2041 has been introduced in the State House: “An institution of higher education may not require a student to complete any of the following in order to graduate, receive a degree or receive credit hours: Diversity Training; a Diversity Course.”
