Governor Tom Wolf Threatens Counties That Want to Reopen Without His Okay

(Harrisburg) — Pennsylvanians are getting restless.   Governor Wolf’s color-coded plan to reopen is being fully recognized as a power grab — a means to control healthy Pennsylvanians; a means to control businesses; a means to control entire counties. Now he has threatened counties which want to reopen without his okay.  The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide advocacy group, condemns Governor Wolf’s threats to counties that simply want to allow their citizens to reopen businesses and go back to work, if they so choose.  Additionally, the AFA of PA has started a petition calling for the resignation of PA Secretary of Health Dr. “Rachel” Levine because of the incompetence shown throughout the COVID-19 outbreak.

During this time, Governor Wolf has consistently removed himself from the lives of everyday Pennsylvanians as his office refuses to take phone calls from concerned citizens, refuses to work with legislators who want to reopen Pennsylvania safely, refuses to listen to the concerns of county-level elected officials who know their county better than he does, refuses to listen to the concerns of county coroners who have asked for the resignation of PA Health Secretary Dr. “Rachel” Levine because of his incompetence.  Mr. Wolf is the one who is out of touch and needs to get back into the real world and face the real-world consequences of his decisions, which largely have been based on the recommendations of Dr. “Rachel” Levine.

“Governor Wolf has threatened to punish counties which open before he gives them the okay.  He is largely basing his decisions on death counts within a county.  He is ignoring the fact that due to the incompetence of his Secretary of Health 65 percent of PA deaths are in nursing homes.  This coming Friday, Beaver County has been forbidden to move from “red” to “yellow” in Wolf’s color-coded plan while the rest of southwestern PA can make the move.  Why?   Because they have 78 deaths — 71 of which are in one nursing home – this same nursing home has 324 of the 493 cases in the county.   Wolf calls Beaver’s elected officials and the others which have said they will reopen ‘cowards.’  Governor Wolf has shown his true colors, has show his belief that only he knows what’s best for Pennsylvania, has shown his belief that business owners don’t have enough common sense to take safety precautions to protect themselves and their customers.  I reiterate, Governor Wolf does not understand how his decisions are negatively impacting the average Pennsylvanian.  He needs to get back into the real world and see what is really happening.  I have a question for Governor Wolf:  Who is cutting your hair and trimming your beard since you continue to mandate barber shops remain closed even in states that have moved to ‘yellow’? Get back into the real world, Governor,” remarked Diane Gramley, president of the AFA of PA.
