US Senate Judiciary Committee Calendar Includes Vote on “Respect for Marriage Act”
Senator Dianne Feinstein’s S598 is not a bill that respects marriage, but rather one that would throw out the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). It is on the Senate Judiciary Committee calendar for a vote during their Executive Business Meeting beginning at 10:00 a.m. today. If it is voted out of committee, it will then go before the entire Senate for a vote. No Pennsylvanians are on the committee, but the majority Democrats are all very liberal and support the bill so there is a very good chance it will be voted out.
Contact Senator Bob Casey, Jr. and Senator Pat Toomey to ask them not to support S598. To most effectively send your message, email and call the district office nearest you. To email Senator Casey his webform is here and Senator Toomey’s is here. Click here for phone numbers.
