Good News: The Last Spending Bills Passed the House, BUT
Details
Let’s take a quick look at one of the failed amendments. Last Thursday Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) offered an amendment to the FY 2026 Government Spending Bill. It would have axed Senate inserted earmarks that allocated millions to entities which perform abortions and so-called gender-affirming care for minors. This amendment failed by a 136-291 vote – 76 Republicans voted with Democrats to defeat the amendment. Here’s how PA’s GOP did:
PA GOP Congressmen voting no: Rob Bresnahan, Brian Fitzpatrick, Mike Kelly, Dan Meuser, Guy Reschenthaler, Glenn Thompson
Voting for the amendment were John Joyce, Ryan Mackenzie, Scott Perry, Lloyd Smucker.
Action Steps:
All of PA’s Democrat members of the US House, unsurprisingly, voted ‘nay’ on the amendment. However, if your Congressman is a Republican, contact him and let him know your thoughts on this vote!
