Blog — Key Under-reported, Misconstrued or Ignored News Stories in 2015
As we draw near the end of yet another year, I think it would be good to reflect on some of the news stories the main stream media chose to ignore or distort this year.
1.) The true purpose of Indiana’s original Religious Freedom Restoration Act was ignored as celebrities, pro-homosexual corporations and the media promoted it as an “anti-gay” law. In actuality, the original law didn’t even mention the words “sexual orientation.” What it does say is that government entities in the state “may substantially burden a person’s exercise of religion” only “in the furtherance of a compelling government interesting” and using “the least restrictive means of furthering that compelling government interest.” After successfully pressuring Governor Mike Pence and the Indiana legislature to rewrite the law into an anti-Christian law, the bullies proudly marched off to Arkansas to successfully use the same tactics!
2.) Ignoring the unethical actions of Supreme Court Justices Elena Kagan and Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the call for their recusal. This stems from them officiating at same-sex “weddings” while the marriage case was being considered by the Court. In fact, Ginsburg officiated at one in May AFTER the Court heard the oral arguments on April 28th.
3.) Willfully ignoring the hundreds of studies which show children do best when raised by their biological parents. The mainstream media’s favorite phrase, stolen from homosexual activists, was probably “Love Makes a Family.”
4.) After the Supreme Court handed down their unlawful decision in the Obergefell v. Hodges case, the media celebrated the decision along with homosexual activists. Again they willfully ignored the negative consequences so-called same-sex “marriage” has had on countries like the Netherlands where it has been legal for over a decade.
5.) Painting Rowan County, Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis as a homophobe and hater for refusing to issue marriage licenses to anyone in her county because her Christian convictions would not allow her to place her name on a “marriage” license for a homosexual couple. Following the lead of the Southern Poverty Law Center which placed Liberty Counsel, the Orlando, Florida-based Christian Law firm that defended Mrs. Davis, on their hate group list. Every story about the situation in Kentucky that appeared after the SPLC decision contained the hate group label when referring to Liberty Counsel.
6.) Declaring Christian business owners like Jack Phillips of Masterpiece Cakeshop near Denver, Barronelle Stutzman of Arlene’s Flowers in Olympia, Washington and Aaron and Melissa Klein of Sweet Cakes by Melissa in Portland Oregon as not being fit to remain in business. The media equated their refusal to participate in same-sex “weddings” to racism and ignored the hateful attacks launched against the business owners and in the case of the Klein’s forcing their business out of their storefront. It seems the mainstream media also failed to report that the state of Oregon had placed a gag order on the Klein’s banning them from speaking publicly about their situation. Oh, and somehow they forgot to report on this story: Oregon cleaned out the Klein’s checking accounts just weeks before Christmas!
7.) Global warming/climate change? We all “know” it’s a proven fact — all you have to do is listen to the mainstream media! The media ignores the facts and the hundreds of scientists who are global warming skeptics.
8.) Women on the front lines — what a great idea! It’s only the male chauvinist military leaders who don’t want the competition from women soldiers. The media is ignoring scientific data that shows women are not capable of successfully carrying out the demands expected of a soldier on the front lines. They are not physically able to do the job and will undermine “survivability and lethality” in war. The media’s refusal to look at the data and go along with the politically correct decision by Secretary of Defense Ash Carter places the men and women in our military at risk and is a national security risk.
The mainstream media is increasingly showing its true colors as they side with the radicals who are out to change America into something we will not recognize. Americans have more choices in which media sources they use and they need to be wary of the mainstream media. The above are but a few examples of why caution is necessary. Frequently writing a letter to the editor of your local newspaper would be one way to combat the liberal media. Even the newspaper reporters in small-town USA are liberal as they all went to the same journalism schools!!
