2024 US Budget Problems
Details
The “Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024” funds the Departments of Defense, Education, Health and Human Services (HHS), Homeland Security (DHS), Labor, and State until the end of the fiscal year September 30, 2024. Yes, the federal government has been operating without a budget since October 1, 2023. Imagine your household trying to operate in such a manner! Congress has been passing ‘continuing resolutions” or CRs to legally be able to continue spending our tax dollars during this time period. They want to spend a total of $1.2 trillion of our money. Here’s the link to how they want to spend it through the Department of Health and Human Services. Scroll down to page 97 and begin to see the various earmarks in the 269-page document. Here are a few:
(page 129) Senator Bob Casey, Jr. has requested $400,000 for the Mazzoni Center in Philly, which does “gender affirming surgery assessments”, helps with “name and gender marker changes”. From their website: Mazzoni Center’s Pediatric & Adolescent Comprehensive Transgender Services program, also known as PACTS, is the only community-based program of its kind in the Philadelphia area. We recognize that trans youth and their families have specific needs and questions, and we have developed a comprehensive approach to addressing them.”
(page 146) Senator Tammy Baldwin has requested $400,000 for Briarpatch Youth Services in Fitchburg, Wisconsin. This is from their website: offers individual counseling services” for children ages 12-17, in which a “[c]ounselor can work with children on exploring identity, resiliency, and creating a Gender Support Plan for school support and advocacy. Youth do NOT need parent/guardian permission to join Teens Like Us.” As you scroll down through this monstrosity of a spending bill, you’ll see money going to unions, school districts, organizations that help the disabled, organizations that distribute diapers, organizations that perform abortions, United Way (which by the way was instrumental in the demise of the Boy Scouts), Boys and Girls Clubs (have you check out their Mission Statement recently?) hospitals, community center, community health centers, local government, YWCA (checkout their “Reproductive Justice” statement) , etc.
